A tower crane permit showed up for 609 W. Randolph on 12/22.

Looks like the building permits for this 15 story office building will come through soon and it might be the first start of 2021.

Yikes, not a fan of fultonization encroachment east of the expressway!
Antunovich is always so eminently capable of disappointment.....occasionally you get the pleasant surprise, but not much more.

On the other hand, I like 800 W. Lake.....if for no other reason, its decidedly anti-fultonized stance. Really important to have a good flow of quality design at least interspersed among everything else around Fulton, to keep it from being a throwaway 'disneyfied' district from an aesthetic perspective and send a signal (to developers as well as design professionals) that the neighborhood remains open to meaningful architecture from real architects.

You all contribute a lot to the discussions in the forum, regardless of whether or not there is agreement on issues that are brought up, and I hope the new year brings even greater high-rise & architectural developments in Chicago for us to share, debate, gawk and marvel at, together.

Just noticed that Skyscrapercenter.com is missing Aon Center in its Chicago list; this seems like a glaring omission, especially since CTBUH headquarters are in Chicago. Anyone have contacts over there to fix it?

It's there but marked as Proposed for the renovation: construction start 2021, completion 2023. Probably should be using the renovation status bits instead without clobbering the original construction state.

I sure hope we get a good replacement. Chicago deserves to have an architecture critic.
