I mentioned in the OPO thread last year than Enwave had bored a chilled water pipe from their plant in Wacker under the river to the Post Office. Now that same line is being extended to BMO Tower. The current roadwork in the Canal underpass is for this purpose. Good news for sustainability! Hopefully we can see more expansion of this system in West Loop... if they were smart they would invest in a district system for Fulton Market, either steam or chilled water.

I was driving south bound on the kennedy this morning and was surprised to see how big this tower already is - as seen from Armitage Ave area all the way to the Ohio Exit ramp

I really like the details on this tower. But as a whole, it would have looked amazing with one more setback.

Yes! Another 2-300ft taller would be perfect

BMO Tower 51 vs. 50 Stories

Why do news report sites list the number of BMO Tower floors as 50? Isn't it more accurately 51 stories after the April 2020 design change got board approval?

The tower has 51 floors, but 51 is all mechanical and elevator machine rooms. 50 is the last occupied floor.

As far as additional setbacks, this tower is unique from the stepping of UBS and the original form proposed for 110 N. Wacker in that there is one last 30' setback (center bay only on the north side) before the penthouse for a terrace on floor 49.

But regarding what you are actually getting at -- one more setback and additional height -- there was a brief period after the residential addition was axed from the top of the Headhouse that the developer was considering relocating the residential component to the top of the office tower with additional setbacks and another 25 or so floors. That apparently didn't get much traction with the alderman. It also wasn't great for the efficiency of the office tower.

^Nice shot, Harry. Interesting detail with the extended column panel. Hope they continue that at the crown.
