Seems like this construction will take forever. Those massive super columns take a lot of work to clad in forms for concrete. Hopefully they will hit their stride soon.

My understanding is that after the podium levels the construction techniques become a bit more "regular" and things should speed up. This project in general has been very slow though so I'm not expecting any miracles.

I probably said this before but I will say it again since others are chiming in. As exciting as this project is, I feel that the project grew to 3 floors in 5 years. It's like they're waiting, but waiting for what? Ridiculous. Much larger projects in Manhattan have gone up since this started and are 75% done. So many skyscrapers going up around Canada's metropolis, why is this major one on life support?

This thing is a joy to watch go up, but is a tad bit slow. I hope once they are done with the office floors that they pick up the pace.

Fosters' "hanging floors from a truss" method is always going to be slower than a standard tower, isn't it? This thing is super columns and diagrid all the way up.

This building seems like it will actually be pretty small, interns of footprint. I guess it makes up for that in height. Reminds me of the Claridge Icon in Ottawa. At 42 floors, it is the tallest in the city (for now), but it is very slender, and from certain vantage points it looks smaller than it is.

It's actually bigger than average, 960 square metres, where the normal size is 750 square metres...

Bigger than average for a building of its height? What are you using for an average? How does it compare to Number One Bloor across the street for comparison? More slender? Same?

The City of Toronto typically tries to limit the size of residential building floorplates to 750 square metres (about 8,000 square feet).

It rarely provides exceptions.

One Bloor East is larger I believe, but I think it's zoning approval predates the city's rules around floorplate size as well.

They've been rearranging cranes over the last week or so in preparation for the tower to start rising...and now that the podium is getting pretty far along structurally, we'll see more steelwork coming in for the rest of the podium leading up to the regular tower floorplans. Ill try and get an update soon.

The yellow crane recently dismantled, is now being reassembled (with a climbing section added?).

6 years into this project and we're on the third floor

At this rate it'll be done in ~180 years
