New branch between Villiers le Bel and Parc des Exposition, this branch is also called "Barreau de Gonesse".
According the planning work should begin in 2017 for an opening in 2020.

This link between the RER D and B is made to ease the access to CDG airport and other industrial hubs of northestern outer suburbs by public transport for the people living in the northern outer suburbs.
This branch is 11.4 km, the trip will be 10 minute long instead of 35 by bus. It will be served by a train every 15 minutes.

A new station will open at Gonesse in an area where some urban development are planned.

Transportation in this area in 2025

Blue circle: Main existing areas of economic activity.
Orange circle : Main areas of economic activity in project.
The yellow zones are the possible route for a new high speed train link to CDG airport.

Automated trains launched on Paris Line 1
03 November 2011

FRANCE: The first automatic trains to operate in revenue service on Paris metro Line 1 were officially launched on November 3 by RATP Chairman & CEO Pierre Mongin, at an event attended by Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport & Housing Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, and Jean-Paul Huchon, President of the Ile-de-France Regional Council.

The event marks a key milestone in the €600m programme to automate the 17 km Line 1, which is the oldest and busiest metro line in Paris, carrying around 725 000 passengers per day. It follows completion of work to install 954 half-height platform screen doors at all 25 stations along the route, together with new communications systems and CCTV.

Line 1 has been equipped with Siemens’ Trainguard MT CBTC under a contract awarded in November 2005. This will allow trains to operate at 85 sec headways, compared with the 105 sec limit with the older signalling, enabling RATP to adjust train frequency more flexibly to serve any sudden peaks in ridership.

Parallelling the phased changeover in Nürnberg, where automatic and manual trains operated on the common section of Lines U2 and U3 for several years, RATP expects to operate a mix of automatic and manual trains on Line 1 until December 2012. It says the displaced drivers will be able to move to other lines or retrain and transfer to other duties.

The operator is taking delivery of 53 MP05 six-car trainsets from Alstom, which will be phased into service over the next year, displacing the current MP89 stock to Line 14. An initial build of 49 sets was ordered in 2005 under a €474m contract with options for a further 10, of which four were ordered in May 2009 for €50m. Eight trains are now available for service, and the remainder are expected to enter traffic at the rate of two per month.

MP05, first day of driverless trains commercial service on the line.

Trains speak in four langages : French, English, German and Japanese. ("mind the gap" and "the doors of the left side will open").

-A frequency of 85s instead of 105s.
-30 km/h of average speed instead of 27.4 km/h.
-MP05 have 6% more capacity than the MP89.

This will increase the capacity of the line 1 of more than 25%.
Anyway the real difference will be when all the trains on the line 1 will be driverless MP 05.

Except kids, fans and elders, nobody seem to care.
This place is the only execption

We meet an other MP05 (the purple 503)

Detail of the LCD screens

An other MP05, this is the number one (501) with a yellow front.

The 508 with a blue face departing of Gare de Lyon

The 506 is parked in the third track of Gare de Lyon M1 station.

The 509 doesn't have a colored face.
It is the normal look of the MP05.

What's new in there? I thought lines 1 and 14 were already fully automated since years... I guess they weren't as driverless as claimed. Still there's never been a single train driver on line 14, right? Pretty confusing, and I'm just realizing that I never paid any real attention.

The line 14 is driverless since its opening but the line 1 was driver operated.
What is new is the transformation of an existing driver operated line in a driverless line.

The 5 December was the first day of commercial service of the MI09.

Some pictures taken by CLYDE, a meber of a parisian forum about transport.

The interior looks really similar to the MI2N stock.

Unfortunately, this project offers no connection between trhe line 2 and 14.
It seems to be an Express line - driverless, twice the speed, and on average 3 times the distance between stations - meaning very fast. The Rome station on line 2 is most often my station of choice when I'm in Paris staying with friends. Still, the Pont Cardinet is close to the same walk distance as Rome, and is non-stop to Les Halles.

The problem is the lack of transfer between the line 14 and the line 2, not the area served.
I would prefer the busy Place de Clichy instead of the empty Rome area.

There ius a load of people transfering between the line 2 and 13.
If the line 14 want to relieved the traffic of the line 13, we couldn't neglect a connection with the line 2.

Line 14 extension

^^^^
Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore your point regarding line 14 not interlining with line 2. From your post, I gather that you wished the line would interline to line 2 at Place de Clichy.

Yes, it is what was planned at first.
The busy and undersized Place de Clichy station would have a new hall and interchange would be reorganised to fit with the high number of passenger.

_________________________________________________

Finally after having waited for 30 minutes four times in three days on the platform of Gare de Lyon (it is the only station with a single island platform in the central section), I took a MI09.

Trains are air conditioned like the MI2N

Rueil-Malmaison, the train was bound to Saint-Germain-en-Laye but I couldn't go furter than the zone 3. This station is the last on zone 3.

Western extension, Asnières Gennevilliers-Les Courtilles - Colombes Gabriel Peri
It is not the western extension in work between Saint Denis and Asnières Gennevilliers-Les Courtilles) that will open in 2012.
It is what is planned next on the western side, this extension will provide a connection between the T1 and T2.
Work should begin in 2014.

Video Link

Only one of two routes planned will be built.

-6 km
-11 or 12 stations
-80,000 to 110,000 new passengers.

With all the extensions on the west and east of the line, I believe that T1 will be split at least in two.
Because 31 km long is not suitable for a tram line like the T1. The whole trip between Colombes Gabriel Peri and Val de Fontenay will take at least two hours.
And it's not over, another extension is planned on the western side further inside Nanterre.

The STIF (the transport authority of the Paris region) launch studies about the construction of a new tunnel between Chatelet les halles and Gare du Nord.

Quote:
Launching studies for the doubling of the Châtelet - Gare du Nord tunnel.

STIF Board approves funding for exploratory studies and feasibility of doubling the tunnel between Châtelet and Gare du Nord for €1.3 million.
The studies will be carried out by Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) and fully funded by STIF.
By doubling the capacity of the tunnel, the 1.2 million passengers daily of the RER B and D that pass each day through this tunnel could see their conditions of transport greatly improved.
