Notice also that they are positioned between floors. Clearly not permenant, also not directly in the way of placing the next floor.

^^Great picture! I love when density is added to an already very dense location.

They call these "steel and plank" buildings.

The first few floors are typically steel beams with galvanized decking and concrete.

Then the plank starts typically on residential floors. Yes, the yellow beams are temporary, until the concrete planks are installed and welded into place.

Cladding on the Locust facing side. Kind of ugly (and uglier in person than shows in this picture)...Fortunately, it's largely masked by the church and trees. Still, I hope that the floor about the church transition to glass or at least incorporate some heavy doses of glass even if this cladding continues to the top.

This definitely seems value-engineered and to depart from their materials from CDR submission: https://www.phila.gov/CityPlanning/p...%20-%20CDR.pdf See page 23 and page 32. I don't know what the hell this is, but it's not "Type A" brick panels it was supposed to be. In any case, doesn't bode well for the nice render of the hotel by the Estia folks, which I think is also DAS-designed. DAS buildings always seem much uglier than the reality. Cambria Hotel is another example.

Honestly, developers should be forced submit material changes to CDR as soon as they are made. And CDR should immediately file them publicly. Even if CDR doesn't have the power to stop them in most projects. We need more transparency.

Is the maroon color cladding the final skin of the building or is that insulation or something? I’m really just not sure. Given that it is not glass with a void between, I’m wondering what is the insulation used when it is not glass on the skin of a high rise.

It appears more black in person. I think that's just the light or something. But I HOPE that's not the finished product. I'm not all that optimistic. I think it more likely is.

Looking at this rough render of the south side, hoping that the current clading is the dark strips, mostly to be filled in with windows. Are the current installations consistent with this?

I don't recall seeing this one before...must not have checked into this thread during the time this was posted. But what I see in person is in about the same position as the strips in the middle of this. Gives me hope that there will be windows on the left and right as rendered.

The cladding in question is most definitely the very light strip in the center. Rendering shows light, reality is brown.
