There's just something about two irregular yet dominating towers next to each other that make Manhattan West an interesting development to me! A shame they didn't do much to make things stand out at night! As far as futuristic skylines go, though, this is going to add to the immense cluster at Hudson Yards!!

Truly a city within a city!
And they're only halfway done in Hudson Yards.

NYC’s iconic towers are reopening with new luxe perks

By Lois Weiss
April 21, 2021

Quote:
.....Brookfield is looking beyond downtown Manhattan. In September they are planning a grand opening for Manhattan West, with retail shops that include Peloton.

This summer, the development’s Pendry Manhattan West hotel will soft open its 164 luxury rooms. The offices at One Manhattan West, the residential 5 Manhattan West and the Lofts are all open while the new office tower at 2 Manhattan West is under construction.

Soon, construction will begin to expand the High Line’s northern spur right into the center of the plaza — hopefully opening by 2022.

I really love this building, but I just realised it will block a substantial part of the Empire State Building from this vantage point. Construction and part of the crane is visible.

I wonder how many tens of millions of dollars the developers saved by eliminating the lobby cantilever that you see in the other tower. Remember how long it took to create that magnificent inverted cone base? Oh baby, talk about steel porn. And just look at the results! Perhaps the most beautiful skyscraper lobby ever constructed. This one will be beautiful too, even with it’s cheating exterior support beams, but it will forever be tainted by it’s gorgeous neighbor. Kind of like when you’re hanging out with a nine, and a real-life ten walks by, and it actually jars you seeing someone so much more attractive next to this person whom everyone thinks is beautiful. Too bad this building can’t move to Third Avenue. She’d be a star over there. Here she’s the homely sister.
