From that angle, Vanderbilt is just one of many, with more to come. When the crown is lit (hopefully soon), it will stand out a bit more.

Hadn't realized that CNN was using the deck view from 30 Hudson (it's new headquarters) as a backdrop. One Vanderbilt will clearly be visible around the world.

CNN has multiple studios, but its main studio is in NY. They used to be at Columbus Circle, now they're in Hudson Yards. Atlanta was the original studio and still important, and they also have studios in DC and LA.

Atlanta is where Ted Turner works (global HQ - home of upper management). New York, the media capital of the world, is where the anchors work. IE Anderson Cooper.

Main headquarters has been in NY for a while. Turner hasn't been involved in ages, it's all Time Warner (now Warner Media). It's why they were headquartered at Time Warner Center. But now, they're home with other Warner companies like HBO in a consolidated headquarters at 30 Hudson. Time Warner by the way spent a lot of money upgrading the TW Center studios, even as they were building a new headquarters at 30 Hudson. Now AT&T has a hand in Warner Media. BofA took the empty HBO headquarters building across the street from the BofA tower, and they are currently renovating it for expanded space.

Ted Turner’s net worth might look even more impressive today had he made a different decision in 1996. That was the year that he sold Turner Broadcasting to Time Warner. The selling price? $7.3 billion in stock. That sounds great. But when Time Warner merged with AOL, Ted Turner “saw his fortune tumble as shares dropped,” Forbes reports.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports that Turner “was fired from the company in 2000, soon after the merger with AOL that cost him $8 billion of his then-$10 billion fortune.”

Another interesting fact, besides 2 WTC, FOX was also considering One Vanderbilt...

I'm not quite sure how, but even though this tower is massive and a total standout, it somehow gets lost in the mix.

Not in a negative way... maybe it just fits in so well.

It does kind of get lost. One hundred extra feet would have made a yuge difference. Still gorgeous.

I wonder if the construction team is still ahead of schedule. Progress seems to have slowed quite a bit, for obvious reasons.

Agreed. This tower, while a great addition, isn't really a standout. It probably needed 200 extra ft. to really shine.

And with the other upcoming supertalls in the neighborhood, it will never really have a dominant presence.

^ I was more referring to its size in its location providing its ‘standout’ quality, not so much the overall design/structure that grabs one’s attention on the skyline.
