Wonder how many folks know that no tax dollars are involved.
Well they dumped $8 million into it to get it started.

I thought it was more like $3M?

Much like car sharing programs, they get premium spaces for no money.

Interesting that the city is funding some of the charging infrastructure. That's a big capital cost, compared to the rest of the system.

I think the contract was funding for $5 million over 5 years but there were other staff costs etc on top of that.

Quote:
The bike share system will cost the city $6 million in one-time vendor fees and startup expenses, and at least another $2 million in costs during its first five years.

The upfront fees the city will pay operator CycleHop will help the company “get over the first hurdle” of bringing in sponsorship dollars and getting its financing in place, Dobrovolny said.

In return for that $8 million over five years, CycleHop will pay the city an undisclosed share of per-bike revenue. Staff won’t release the exact numbers, saying that could harm CycleHop’s business elsewhere, but with a proposed fare of $2.50 per half-hour for casual users — the highest-paying customers — it would take a lot of trips for the city to recoup its money.

They signed in 2016 so I wonder what happened with the renewal last year.

Or what the revenue ended up being. They are pretty well used. I have a membership ($99/yr with a small work subsidy). It beats locking up your own bike somewhere, and handy for 1 way trips.

I guess I can disclose it now since they updated their address info but Rennie is moving into the space

It will eventually fill in over the next 20-30 years. You won't notice it

I completely agree with you...it is a confusing jumble of many styles, tremendously clunky on east and west elevations, has a crappy resolution at the ground and does not warrant its privileged position as an entry feature from the bridge

Interesting.
I remember this part of the building is a tenant improvement so it would have to be done by another contractor. I wonder who got it?

I remember meeting whole foods on site here and their fridges didnt fit the low ceiling. lol

I wouldn't want to be doing any work on the pit next to that.
