Pretty basic tourist trap entrance, wouldn't want all those mice clogging up the main lobbies in your building. Same concept over at One Times Square by constructing a jungle gym for those tourist buck$.

These devs will certainly take it from them with a grin.

Sorry, but this is an ignorant post. You should stop while you’re ahead. People spend money on tourists attractions and observation decks around the world. The observation deck at the Empire State is its largest driver of income. The observation deck at One Vanderbilt is sold out regularly. Obviously, people enjoy them. That you don’t is your business. How other people spend or make their money is theirs. You don’t like observation decks? Fine. Stay out of them. They obviously do well without you.

How popular is One World Observatory compared to the observation decks in Midtown, which are often packed with visitors. The Empire State Building is the most popular observation deck in New York City and one of the most popular observation decks in the world.

yeah i wonder if we can pull together annual visitor numbers for all the observation attractions? i dk that it actually needs to be counted accurately, so it might be all that is available are sus developer hype numbers anyway.

I think it looks awesome! I'm looking forward to experience the jungle gym in the air with those views and I'm sure a tremendous amount of tourists will also. If this wasn't in gaudy Times Square, then perhaps my feelings would change.

^ I don’t see Vanderbilt as being much different really, and it’s on the more conservative east side. I suspect when this deck opens, it will be as popular as Vandy and the others, maybe even more. If you build it, they will come. I’m also interested in seeing how that drop plays out.

Do you know what is happening with the Tower Fifth and Affirmation Tower, which are also planned to have observation decks open to the public.

Does having an observation deck on top of a hotel like this require elevator shafts taking up space on every floor like an office, residential, or mixed use skyscraper would. Also, where is the entrance for the hotel lobby located.
