There's a buzz about it, even if it's office workers and people going to the mall. I'd love to see some pedestrian improvements like scramble crosswalks & bike lanes to make it a littttttle less dystopian

Scramble crosswalk would be great at Constellation and Avenue of the Stars.

Long awaited Rialto Theatre renovation now underway in South Pasadena

Quote:
Under new arrangements worked out between the Shomof Group, owner of South Pasadena’s historic Rialto Theatre, and its current tenant, the Mosaic church group, Shomof will take charge of and shortly begin significant restoration work on the building’s exterior while Mosaic will remain in charge of interior restoration.

Building owner Izek Shomof also told the South Pasadenan News that Mosaic will get a new 20-year lease for its weekend religious services. In exchange, his organization, in addition to taking over the exterior work that it can do much less expensively than Mosaic, will also be hired to complete some of the interior work and reclaim the right to lease the building’s two storefront retail spaces.

“We’re going to bring livelihood back into that space,” Shomof told the South Pasadenan News Wednesday. He predicted exterior work would be completed within four-to-six months and that new retail leases would be signed by mid-2020.

“We are excited that this historic resource is getting some attention and will be available for the community,” said Joanna Hankamer, South Pasadena Planning and Community Development Director. She said the city is supporting the work by helping both Shomof and Mosaic secure the necessary permitting authorizations.

^^^ Yeah Culver City came out of nowhere and i personally love it. We have another skyline forming during our lifetime and it pretty interesting but also makes a lot of sense, whats happening in Culver City is also great because the surrounding area is seeing the benefits, especially the convergence with the Crenshaw line, that entire area is changing rapidly.

Long Beach....I was in Long Beach yesterday.....Its new tallest is draaaaaaaaging. Its taking soooooo long, its finally out of the ground, about 2-3 floors up but there had to have been a design change because it now has a huge podium unless i was mistaken.

The towers look to be at least at the 26th floor....20 to go. If they add a floor a week, that would be 20 more weeks to top out; two floors a week (unlikely), maybe 10 weeks. My guess would be 1.5 floors a week with a May topping out. Will they be taller than the triangular theme towers across the street? If they are indeed 600 feet tall, they will be taller by almost 50 feet. The tallest outside of DTLA.

Aren't the Culver City buildings only 6 stories? The taller buildings near La Cienega are in Los Angeles.

The entire Expo line TOD is going strong. If Expo is getting this much development, wait until the purple line extension TOD starts!!

It's funny how I go to other forums, particularly city-data and Facebook and Angelinos constantly complain about too much development, too many people moving here, the La Cienaga development should have never been built. All this development near rail stops is a waste because no one rides them and so on. It's really ridiculous and down right dumb why people think this way. But yet they are the ones who constantly complain about traffic and just about everything else.

Those are called stupid people. It's best not to dwell on them, they just serve to slowly drive a non-stupid person crazy.

Or perhaps they are frustrated how much of a dump the city has become and how bad traffic really is. Not everyone out there is an enthusiast about city development nor understands its implications. That doesn't make them stupid. You could use the term ignorant but then again maybe even that is a bit low. Have some class and respect-- it goes a long way.

Okay. I'm convinced. There are no stupid people. Just people that dont want urban investment. Perhaps I should have gone with ignorant or selfish, or a combination of both. Got it.
