I agree that design was ungainly. Yet this single floor, very long balcony is not exactly a looker, either.

369 grand is such a nice fill but that office depot is just aching for a high rise.

Is Bentham still on hold? How hard is it to get those permits approved? Just poor management, or money?

The Halsted and Lake hotel affirms the highrise corridor along the L I’ve always imagined. Imagine seeing this density march all the way down to Ashland

I hadn't made the GREC connection until seeing the drawings again, but it looks like it is more or less like a taller tower version of 845 w Madison. Lighter contrasty brick base with a similar aluminum looking curtain/window wall system above

The question is really this: Where is this hurting development? Is it hurting it in Lakeview, Logan, Lincoln (Park and/or Square) or Wicker? Is it going to cause developers to start building again in formerly underutilized areas west and south? Honestly, I'm not sure if this is an overall good or bad thing, but the general concept of spreading the development over a broader swath of the city isn't really bad in my opinion.

Perhaps the ARO documents need further revision, perhaps not. I just don't necessarily feel bad for the "poor" developers, that's all.

I'm no huge fan of the ARO rules but to be honest I'm not sure where development is being hurt...

maybe some projects don't pencil out?

They must be almost topped out. The last week or so I've noticed that they're clearing out tons (literally) of stuff that had accumulated around the building base and from trying to count the floors that are poured but don't yet have glass I come very close to the total floors expected. On Saturday the crane was busy lowering big wooden construction platforms.

In very good news, the glass is now beyond the point where the stupid little balconies were in the renderings, so I think that's out. Also, perhaps, the single larger bump out that appeared at some point. The 717 Clark, aka "Imprint" web page currently shows 2 square open balconies toward the top - I'm guessing this is congruent with amenity space:

https://imprintapts.com/

This is a variation that hadn't appeared on the developer web site.

I also noticed that there is now a place to schedule a 30 minute "Hard Hat" tour - Sunday afternooons beginning February 2nd.
