EDMONTON | Citizen on Jasper | 312 FT | 30 FLOORS

Construction on the project between 120th and 121st streets is expected to begin in the fall of 2016, with residences occupied by the fall of 2018.

According to a link that was posted on the WAM Development Group’s website Monday, the design of the building’s facade will incorporate the use of braille letters and numbers to advertise the project’s main office tenant — the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

Reached Monday evening, CNIB Alberta spokesman Jung-Suk Ryu said the organization is in discussions with the developer, but that no deal has been reached. Shortly after, the link to the project on the developer’s website was taken down.[...]

Ryu said discussions with CNIB’s discussions with the developer have included components of what the building might look like, but many elements still must be addressed. The non-profit group has based its operations at the corner of Jasper Avenue and 120th Street for more than 60 years.

“It is tremendously exciting to think about the possibilities, but nothing has been finalized,” Ryu said.
