Slowly getting closer to Q4 2021. I'm ready for this building to start already.

I hope they can pull it off.

Who else thinks that they're not shooting for tallest because they know the Thompson Center Redevelopment may yield an even taller building? Not sure if that's why but just a thought.

I'm sure that's not a consideration.

We don't even know Thompson Center will yield a supertall. There haven't been any public statements from developers who are interested or what they want to do with the site. We did see some architect-driven visions, but those don't necessarily represent an actual realistic development plan.

More than likely Thompson redevelopment looks like gr33n, and have that sweet sweet city block sized floor plate, that must be like a potential 120,000ft2 floor size

Of course it may not be, but I just can't understand why they wouldn't just add a tad more height, unless that extra 30+ feet ups the cost of development astronomically which I guess it may?

I know nothing is concrete for TC but most of the visions include a very tall building. Seems like the perfect spot for it (not far from Tribune either)

I don't think they have but I could be wrong

Time, as they say, will tell. But it’s worth noting that it’s been almost a year since the City of Chicago approved the 100+-story project. And time, as they also say, is money.

Regarding this excerpt, I'm not sure why the author of this article expects it to start right after approval. That was never the plan, they're waiting for the renovation to be done, and also waiting for financing + good market timing.

That'll be a big one, fingers crossed

I know it may be small, but the website also has a new video on it. Unfortunately it’s set as private atm...

Edit: Just checked again and they must’ve made it public in the past few days. Nothing new in it but at least it’s a sign they are doing something.

The Chicago skyline would benefit tremendously from this addition. Based on roof height, Chicago will soon have fifteen 814-969 footers forming a plateau, and the city's four 1128-1196 footers will barely poke above the plateau. If Sears/Willis continues to be the sole 1400+ footer, the skyline would look increasingly monotonous.

Yeah neither approval of the entitlements nor cleanup of the mess they made renovating Tribe has anything to do with anything.

They will start this project when they are good and ready, not when a skyscraper nerd thinks it's good timing. Honestly there could be worse times than now since I would imagine the economy will be cooking in 2 or 3 years which would be a good time to deliver. But given the history of super tall buildings in this city, don't hold your breath...

More like the proposed to built ratio of supertalls since Chicago already has 7 (5 to roof).
