One of my absolute favorite cities on the globe - it felt like New York in the Eastern Hemisphere.

The best views of the skyline I found were while crossing the Bandra-Worli Sea Link whenever I left Pali Hill. You're hard-pressed to find comparably open vistas anywhere else in Mumbai.

I've been dreaming of visiting ever since I read Shantaram a few years ago.

nice to see and thx for showing us -- did you get to see where the bollywood neighborhood or neighborhoods are? i recall seeing a lot of movie signs around it like hollywood has.

i dk that i would be in any hurry to visit, but it looks ok and like it would be fun if you are adventurous.

^ I don't know where that is and didn't feel compelled to visit. I did go see that movie though!

The neighborhood I stayed in, Pali Hill, is apparently the Beverly Hills of India - lots of walled compounds and fancy garden high-rises.

On several occasions locals approached me and asked if I was looking for a certain celebrity's home when they noticed my camera.

The streets are winding, highly vegetated brick pavements. I recall seeing several very well-tended peepul trees alongside them. It's not uncommon to spot a Westerner walking through the neighborhood.
