You're a very hateful person, aren't you? Seems unnecessary.

You don't like electronic music, I don't like electronic music. Doesn't mean those people are "d bags" or that a business deserved to fail.

I don't even know what to say to that. I partially agree with you? I remember the days of Crowbar and Amsterdam (when it was a piano bar/upscale lounge) in a not-so-buzzing downtown just a couple blocks away from Desoto/Track, as well as the days of events like Liquid Rave in the warehouse district in the early 90's. I've been a dance music lover since the 80's and fondly remember when you could go to a nightclub and actually dance without having people stand around posing for social media or dealing with asshats and their bottle service.

However, we're trying to build a successful downtown that is open to everyone and one that could draw people from all areas of the valley. We shouldn't be too picky, choosy, and judgy when it comes to the "types" of establishments we think belong or "fit". And what exactly is the "vibe" of Roosevelt Row these days? Desoto/Track is located on Central Ave.! I know people who live downtown who were looking forward to checking out the place, just as I know people in Scottsdale who do venture out to enjoy dwtn Phoenix. Sure these types of establishments can appear to be polarizing to some, but if you don't like them, you don't have to frequent them. It's not as though they can't thrive in downtown areas. Ruby Skye stuck around for 17 years in Union Square in San Francisco (saw Tiesto there in 2007).

I do sort of wish they had eased up on some of the shows initially in order to just build a presence downtown as a standard night club instead of relying on these shows with overpriced tickets to bring in bodies.

Man biggus you really are a downer. Do you even bother going back to reading my posts and making educated replies? If you have, you would've realized that I myself was a douchebag once and used to frequent many a EDM club/bar in Old Town many a time...that's why I can make an opinion like that. I see the douchebaggery that occurs in these establishments and the pretentious $30K millionaires in attracts in Old Town. And don't be putting words in my mouth...i LOVE EDM music. Apparently, taking babies to a club is frowned upon so I no longer partake in these activities.

Now shoo along...don't you have some more reading up on Apple Pay to do? Or do you also want me to explain how to sending emojis on your phone or how electricity works?

AZLiam -Thank you for the thoughtful and intelligent response.

Dude, i totally get you. I am an EDM groupie and love EDM music as much as the next guy. I've been to Ultra Miami, EDC Las Vegas, and Coachella just to check out Afrojack, Diplo (before he blew up), Aoki, Bennassi, and others. I've been to Ruby Skye, Vessel, Monarch in the city, and Mansion in Miami. Countless pool parties and clubs in Vegas to try and catch Calvin Harris or DJ Chuckie. Hell, I used to go Bar Smith when I wanted to get weird and hear some deep house. That being said, I still believe that specific concept, in that specific building, and in that specific location in downtown was a bad fit. I think they could've had success along Washington or some cool warehouse further south.

Maybe I just feel strongly attached to DeSoto as we used to go there all the time, loved taking people there from out of town, and we even took some engagement pics there. A nightclub seemed like an injustice to me. Chucky and his partners are smart guys and I hope they figure it out and repurpose it somehow. If another developer knows exactly what to do w/ it, then I hope they sell. I really enjoyed the community aspect of DSM.

Thank you. I myself like EDM and listen to it often on my Pandora stations. I used to go to EDM clubs and have gone and seen many live Dj's including Kaskade, Tiesto, ATB, Darude, and Paul Oakenfold. I am far from being a douche bag and no one would even be able to tell what kind of music I listen to since my daily dress is normally khaki's, a polo shirt and dress shoes. I think that's a really bad stereotype to think someone that listens to EDM and/or dances to it be considered a douche bag. This type of music has been around since the days of Kraftwerk back in the mid-'80s. It's popular and many people love to dance to it.

On a side note, Shaquille O'Neill Dj's himself as a hobby and shows up sometimes to the EDM sets to perform. We just saw him a few weeks ago at one of the casino's Dj'ing. He does a mix of rap and techno beats and is actually really good.

On why Track Club closed, it hasn't even been disclosed yet. I do not think it was from lack of business as when I walked by it, they were packed. The article clearly states clearly that it pretty much took it's toll on one of the investors, not because no one was showing up to the club.

Glad that you like EDM, but why refer to lovers of EDM as douchebags? I've never considered myself or anyone in the scene to be nothing of the sort and have never heard anyone else refer to them as such. Must be a new thing, lol?

EDM is trash, makes me want to gouge out my eyes.

Still some clubs downtown would be great to attract more people.

"Once???" I think it describes the present.....

It's ashame because I knew a few people who had gone and I was hoping to go soon! They had a cool lighting system inside.

Not to totally monopolize the thread or take completely off-topic, but I wish there was a club downtown like Numbers in Houston (that club has been around for 40 years!) and has frequent 80's and 90's reunion nights for those of us who have been around a little longer I'm 48, but look a healthy 30ish and still enjoy an occasional dance night out.

I know there are some establishments downtown that offer dark wave nights and Valley Bar has a new wave night sometimes, although I haven't frequented those nights and my guess it isn't as popular here in the valley. I guess I'm a combo of old school and new school since I've kept up with dance throughout the years.

I would imagine the recent debacle of Dutch Bros had a lot to do with the pushback on this. I completely agree as well. Bad location for a BK.

You probably have your own internal struggles that cause you to talk to people the way you do and I'm not a therapist so I'm not going to pretend and play one, but you are one of the most constantly rude people I've ever encountered on internet forums.

That says a lot because internet forums are FULL of socially inept people demeaning others to make themselves feel more validated.

Will you just stop being such a prick to people? You don't have to agree with people. You can disagree without being a jerk.

Interesting. Really tough corner for access being that close to the freeway. There are backups most of the day in the #1 NB lane and left turns from SB lanes are very difficult. I'm actually surprised Burger King got this far into their planning stages at that location, maybe they need a new real estate director.

This quote says all I need to read, though: "Others would have preferred to see a local business or grocery store open in its stead".

It's this entitled attitude that if something isn't "perfect" it won't do. I don't like it so no one else should have it either. God damned millennial mindset.

Exactly. And what kind of dbag says "in its stead" in the stead of instead?

ha ha. That was a direct copy/paste from the article. I thought I screwed it up at first but when I read back to the article that's how it was written. Definitely trying too hard to seem intelligent.

Oh God quit the self-righteous act. Do you ever wonder why people constantly blast you in these forums or make fun of you? Maybe it’s time you take a good look in the mirror.

Nowhere in my initial response did I acknowledge you, reference your name, or anything to that effect. But you just felt entitled to respond to my reply simply because you disagreed with my opinion while being a jerk. But yet you’re blasting me for being a jerk? Kettle...meet pot.

You really can’t fix stupid can you? To take a page from Biggus book, I’m done arguing with you and I’m right
