Wow that part of Hollywood is getting insanely nice. There are also a couple new developments half a block away there between Vine and El Centro on Sunset....not to mention the studio development right across the street.

Hopefully that McDonalds across the street will be next, and it can hide part of the hideous arclight parking structure.

Dear lord that parking lot. The ArcLight is two blocks from the Red Line. Can we just cut that parking lot in half (or a third!), put it underground, and put a 7 (or 40!) story residential on top of it?!?

Who's going to go to theaters anymore anyway? Glendale and Sherman Oaks aren't far away. Just bulldoze the entire site and keep the historical landmark portion of the Cinerama Dome which can be incorporated into a new multi-use housing/retail/office/green space development that manages to rise more than four stories.

Yeah I couldn't disagree more at the notion that theaters are dead. I hear sex is still popular and expected to be post-pandemic as well.

Especially in Los Angeles. We export the Movies to the world. Makes sense that that there are a lot of movie lovers in city and therefore lots of theaters.

I personally love going to theaters and cannot wait to again.

^ I like it too for the neat materials, but would rather ask - who paid for it? Local students on their loans or their families when they can afford fees, I guess. Maybe taxpayers took part of the funding to some extent too, because California is supposed to be highly "liberal".

Even young, unknown architects may design very nice things if you grant them the money to do so, huh.

This is a prestigious higher-education establishment anyway. It is kinda renowned up to Europe / my country too, so they want to look good to be up to the reputation, which is normal.

It's obviously a very precious thing to have good establishments like this to properly train effective engineers and researchers. It's worth the expense.

Well, it's called the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building. Here in the US, when rich people donate money to a university/college, they get to put their name(s) on a building. This couple donated 115 million dollars to Caltech in December 2016 "in support of advancing Caltech research in the field of neuroscience."

I had to look up who these people are; Tianquiao Chen is a Chinese billionaire, and has his own Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chen_Tianqiao
