Riding on the brown line around North Ave, Salesforce matched up against Willis shockingly well. (wasn't able to get a good pic) I suppose this is because it is much closer but it really added a pairlike bulk to this part of the skyline. Looking forward to seeing more from this angle when finished.

^what a city. the west side of the river needs to get built up. those parking lots gotta go and it'd be nice if those tracks get capped. and river/lakefront property is prime real estate.

Are there plans to build up those lakefront lots? I'd imagine a nice park along the water, like a riverfront park, and 1000's of units along it. Could be a very prime location if it goes through some rehabilitation.

Yeah the casino is the latest plan for the site but there's also a plan for a mixed-use development (River District) that was approved several years ago.

The Chicago Tribune still uses the facility there to print and deliver newspapers, so it doesn't seem like there is any urgency to move forward on the mixed use project.

That extra 15' makes a difference from this angle.

Kinda joking kinda serious.

I didn't think it was a crazy thing to suggest at the time, although everyone else thought I was nuts. It does help! Another 100 feet would have really helped this stand out.

Nice shots harryc.

400 N Lakeshore would mirror One Bennet here to the right (South) at almost the exact same height on this view. About 30 ft taller but a smidge farther away.

And Tribune East would split them right in the middle.

Today. The base looks fantastic. Turning out much better than WPE.]

These shots show why I think the Apparel Mart should have been left beige. Now from Wacker it looks like the parking garage for WP. The clump of silver grey buildings next to the beige Merchandise Mart is a bit jarring.

I'm going to hold out judgement until the columns are clad and we see how the active use comes together. I think the base of WFE is pretty nice, as far as functionality, activation, and landscaping.

I believe the next setback will start on top of this steel on the north end of the building. Probably next week.

The building has some serious heft to it when walking around River North. And it looks quite tall from the north approaching south on Orleans.

That is an amazing photo from the lake. The steam bent to the East.... The wisps of stream tilted is one thing. But those dunes of wind-swept snow that look like dollops of whip cream really does it for me.
