Fidelity Bank HQ
This seven month historic renovation project is in the heart of the Central Business District. The 4 story building was originally built in the 1850’s and was given an exterior face lift in the 1950’s to its current condition. The exterior façade of metal wall panels and curtain wall systems will be demolished and replaced with similar materials to preserve the historic characteristics of the building. The first two floors will be home to Fidelity Banks hi-tech banking center and corporate offices. The 3rd and 4th floor spaces will be completed as a white box space in order to serve future tenants.

Not being an engineer, I've always wondered how it's determined that the 1850s building is structurally safe to remodel. Do they check the foundation footings and the wall supports? How do they know the existing old walls will safely support the new, increased loads?

bascially yes.. the exposed beams are checked for integrity etc... also since they arent adding any new floors or anything substantial in weight the load change is minimal at best... additionally there are plenty of new 3d scanning technologies available that can really speed up this process. Charity Hospital being the largest single building done with this tech to date. Check out Cicada Studios for some more information on how this process is done. Its a huge help because even if you have a copy of the original blue prints there are almost always discrepancies in the field compared to those plans

Friends of Lafitte Greenway is at Lafitte Greenway.
November 21, 2019 · New Orleans ·
More art is coming to the Greenway in 2020! We’re excited to announce in partnership with New Orleans Recreation Development Commission and Arts New Orleans the selected artist for the “From Parking to Plaza” public art commission, Will Nemitoff.

Nemitoff’s project, “Iris of Memory,” will be a commemorative work recognizing the life and contributions of local artist, volunteer, mother, and teacher Deborah Vorhoff. The project will activate, celebrate, and transform the public space located at a critical crossroad related to New Orleans’ history, ecology, and bicycle and pedestrian circulation systems on the Lafitte Greenway.
The project, possible by a gift from Elaine Ravich and the City of New Orleans Percent for Art program, will be installed in spring 2020.

To pile on, often those historic commercial buildings were built to support greater weight then what code would require now, especially for residential. When they were first built, first floor or two was retail but you typically had heavy equipment, either for manufacturing or for heating (boilers and such) on upper floors that were really heavy. All of the canal historic buildings i have been working on, are so robust they can support an additional residential penthouse on top of the existing structure with little to no additional support required.

We are kicking off a renovation/addition project for Investar Bank. The existing bank is located at the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Napoleon in New Orleans and will be completely renovated on the interior. The renovated lobby will include four offices with 10’ high floor-to-ceiling glass walls opening to the lobby. The addition will provide increased functionality for Investar and their customers. The new façade will match the existing. The added space will include new staff areas such as teller offices, a break room, and additional offices. A new HVAC system will be installed along with modified plumbing and new fixtures. The scope also includes new electrical, special systems, and lighting. The project in projected to be complete by April of 2020. We are excited to work with Investar Bank and Yeates and Yeates Architects on this project.

We are excited to kick off this multi-unit restoration project at the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. The transformation will include interior upgrades that enhance the aesthetic appeal of the apartment units. The new finishes will include new doors, refinished wood floors, new flooring, and complete repainting of all walls and ceilings. The exterior will receive a new roof and windows along with the repainting of the exterior walls. We appreciate the opportunity to complete this project with Albert Architecture and our client, Wholesalers Development Co., LLC. The renovation will be complete in June of 2020.

El Cucuy is a Mexican street-style restaurant currently under construction on Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans. The project aesthetic is influenced by South American folklore and heavy metal music. The restaurant will offer a modest interior dining space and bar, as well as a bright open exterior dining and entertainment area. A key element of the project is the restored Airstream that anchors the rear of the outdoor seating area and an accompanying shaded deck space.

I can't find the "Project" page on the website that lists the Plaza project. How do I find it?
