I'm digging the design. Looks like it's going to be an extra thick building like the Stewart. It's going to add much needed density to that lot and I'm so glad that something is finally going up there.

They moved pretty quickly on this. They purchased both parcels in May 2018. The construction between this & the Abbey should be pretty easy to document from the police parking garage.

I feel like we barely get updates on the Abbey despite them wanting to be finished later this year. I don't doubt it's on track, and they've said tenants are basically already in live, but there's still been little to no info released despite it being a potential multifaceted hotspot.

The Abbey seems like a very slow roller, it will be cool when its done but its taking its good and well time.

Quick Updates

Came across the following information from last week's DVC meeting.

Hyatt Regency Renovations
https://downtownvoices.us2.list-mana...b&e=256e4b558a

Love to see that they are containing to follow the recommendations from the Adams Street Activation study. On Slide 2, you can see the shaded structure element in the rendering along w/ an exterior structure which adds a 2nd level for outside dining/seating, overlooking Adams Street. Of course, street activation and retail/restaurants on the ground level and improving ped experience. The only thing I don't like is the color scheme, I think it's going to stay that white/original brown combo.

Nothing new but did notice the following: "Develop plans for event infrastructure to streamline temporary street closures including: Bollards, Power, Stage & theatrical lighting, Signage, Restrooms, Security". Nice to see the city think ahead to be able to continue to activate Adams Street even while construction may be going on.

The color scheme is gawd awful. The white just does not work with the brown brick. I was hoping this was not going to be the end result. I would rather it be back the way it was.

Agreed, I always liked the original color of the Hyatt. Some may not like it but I always thought of it as one of Phoenix's more iconic buildings. I was worried they wouldn't paint the vertical columns because the facade is rougher and would probably be more difficult to paint? Anyways ever since they started repainting, I drive down the 202 every morning and look at the skyline wondering, who thought this would be a good idea?

There's nothing wrong with different colors...if it looks good. But this is not the right look for the building. Now it just sticks out as a hack paint job. There must be more to this I'm hoping that they are not showing in that article posted a few posts back. But as Patrick stated above, this is kind of an iconic Phoenix building. It deserves a little better than throwing some white paint on it.

the off white and brown blocks really clash. looks like they let the front desk staff choose the color instead of hiring a professional.

Looks like, per a City subcommittee agenda, the Link 2 and 3 are getting sustainability bonus credits (assumedly allowing increased height/density) in exchange for funding $500,000.00 worth of historic renovations to the Masonic Temple at Monroe/4th Ave.

In separate unrelated news, they have fenced off the 2 full blocks of land across the street from Proxy for construction of the Wexford Center. Looks that should be ramping up really soon.
