They got rid of the transit plaza in option 2, and now to get from rail to SB buses you have to cross 6 lanes of traffic.
Can you provide a link? I am not seeing it in the Public Engagement Library

They also post them to the CapMetro youtube page, generally by the next day or so.

In this case the only benefit of grade separation seems to be that it doesn't inconvenience cars, which is not a goal of mine.

Looks like some potential ROW is going to be freed up where the current EB riverside is. I wonder if they can zone it for housing and sell the land to a developer that can build it

I would be amazed if that happened. Because the aggregate property taxes on the potential ROW would probably rise, the land would be given to a developer and streets and utilities trunk lines installed for him.

That may be a possibility because I believe it is all City controlled ROW. Most of the parcel remnants are on the small side though, so it would work best if they could be combined with adjacent parcels for redevelopment.

I like Option 3. I think it works better for bus and rail and transfers between them. I also like the ideas for station amenities and placemaking. The other options could also have some of that too, but they have a ridiculous amount of the land taken up with ADA circulation.

Option 3 is _horrible_ for bus/rail transfers.

To get from rail to the southbound buses (or vice versa), you not only need to cross 6 lanes of traffic, they're placing the crosswalk way out of the way. Check the pedestrian pathways slide (~34).

People are going to be froggering across the street instead to try and make a bus.

True the pedestrian to bus connection southbound is not as good in Option 3, but it is not that different than any other station in the system. Option 2 is problematic from a bus operations perspective, which is not good for a line that is supposed to be rapid. A true hybrid solution might be to have bus only lanes that go straight through while other vehicles go around. That is a lot of rail crossings though and might present some signaling challenges.

We're in the middle of trying to get rid of the elevated freeway in central Austin.

Yea. I am very skeptical south austin realizes they’re getting a mile long upper deck highway.

Expanding the number of lanes north and south of central Austin is how they are trying to justify the need for more lanes through central Austin even though the number of trips have actually decreased over the past 20 years.

TxDOT to break ground on first project to remove signals on Loop 360

https://www.kvue.com/article/traffic...c-b8c064448658

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) crews will break ground Wednesday on a $72.1 million project that aims to improve safety and mobility at two major intersections on Loop 360.

TxDOT said the project will remove the traffic signals from the Loop 360 main lanes at Westlake Drive and Cedar Street and construct underpasses at both locations. It will also add non-signalized U-turns at Westlake, construct new northbound and southbound frontage roads and add shared-use paths along the corridor.
