I love how this is turning out, and especially how the parking level panels transition to the fins with that twist. Houston has some really unique towers (e.g. TC Energy Center), and this only adds to that stock.

Skanska USA tops out on 1550 on the Green office tower in downtown Houston

By Jeff Jeffrey – Senior reporter, Houston Business Journal
Feb 15, 2023

New York-based Skanska USA Commerical’s 1550 on the Green project has officially topped out, marking an important milestone for the closely watched 28-story office tower adjacent to Discovery Green downtown.

When it is completed later this year, the 375,000-square-foot building at 1550 Lamar St. will feature 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space with extra-wide pedestrian zones under a canopy of trees, Skanska said.

Above the retail space, the building’s lobby will be outfitted with touchless turnstiles, app-based registration and destination-dispatch elevators.

Tenants will also have access to a fitness center and outdoor terraces on the 12th and 20th floors.

The 28th floor will be dedicated to an event space with a landscaped outdoor terrace.

“As the name suggests, 1550 on the Green has been designed and built with sustainability at its core, and there’s no better place for the greenest office building in Houston than in Discovery Green,” Matt Damborsky, executive vice president for Skanska USA Commercial Development’s Houston market, said in a statement. “We’re eager to continue the remaining parts of the construction process and begin welcoming tenants and visitors to the building later this year.”

Meant to ask here since I've never found the source, but was wondering if anyone could confirm this info. HAIFer tangledwoods posted this on February 16.

Quote:

I saw some good stats on LinkedIn from Skanska:

687,000 SF

43,000 CY Concrete

448'9" Total Height
The height makes more sense than the initial 410' figure that was released. Both the nearby One Park Place and Hess Tower are just at 500', so something 450'-ish or so does make sense compared to either.

I Love this building, it's like the Bank of America Center(TC Energy) and Wells Fargo Plaza had a child together

Landscaping at Skanska's 1550 on the Green
Quote:
Skanska USA is progressing on its 1550 on the Green office tower downtown. Earlier this month, in a four-hour time frame, landscape architects installed:

-55 trees ranging in size from 65 to 200 gallons.
-85% Texas-native wooded, floral and arid plant species on over 16K SF of terraces.
-A 48,000-gallon rainwater collection system.
-A robust drip irrigation system throughout the project, including on all terraces.

1550 on the Green is a 28-story, 375K SF office building adjacent to Discovery Green.

Construction topped out in February.
