Oh shoot, I took some pics today as well. I'll try to avoid posting some duplicate angles. ^

These are some farther out shots to give some context of where the tower will grow.

This looks even better than predicted.

wait, is that really true?

a 2.5 month pause on core construction? what gives?

everything about how this project has progressed is just so very different from what i'm used to.

The latest video is from January 20 and it only seems to have gone up 2-3 floors from November to then. Since I have never been to Detroit I have to take other people's word for it on whether or not this is still currently growing.

To be optimistic, there has probably been a push to finish the shorter building first and get that occupied while the tower is still under construction.

I don't know about any pause since November, but my closest two pics from that time frame are from August to January. It looks like there were about 10-11 floors added between that time frame so 1 to 2 floors per week? Sounds about average? There were a couple of weeks of really low temps and some passing snow storms as far as inclement weather goes.

Also, it's very possible that the location of the guy doing the Youtube updates moved up a few floors in his building. From that perspective, the tower wouldn't look like it grew as much.

To be pessimistic, there has been yet another height reduction, this time a drastic one. Would be a shame if the "tower" ends up barely taller than the "block". Gilbert wouldn't let that happen, right?

from an observation only pov... last time it "seemed" like there was a pause or slow down, it coincided with the first set back. Perhaps that's all this latest "slow down" could be?

Yes, this height is the next major set back in the design, just like last time. The core is shrinking in size so it probably took them time to modify construction methods for it. The white concrete pump is being utilized so we know the core is being poured.

I don't understand why the images expand when posted here, oh well I guess. The Facebook link will have better viewing for smaller monitors.

Those are awesome, nice find!

Looking over the program again, where they're at right now looks to not only be the height of the second setback, it's also where the residences are set to begin. I'm no architect or project manager, but I imagine with each transition in program brings its own set of challenges. From this point up, there appear to be 4 different setbacks/terraces in the final design, not including the roof at very top. So unlike the floors below where many floors were exactly the same, the columns may very well be in different locations here impacting the speed.

Looks like it's maybe going up about a little more than 1 floor per month since December. Looking at the photos on Detroit Yes, just the area exposed below the sleeve (approx. - there are some varying ceiling heights in the middle):

December 14 - floor 14
January 12 - floor 15
February 10 - floor 17
March 10 - floor 18

I'm not sure about it being stalled.

This is today compared to...

The core is notably skinnier now.

^ Thanks, this comparison is very helpful, much better than trying to estimate core elevation based on photos taken by different people from various perspectives. Looks like the core has gone up about two floors since mid-Dec 2022. Glacially slow, but definitely not stalled.

Click over to Detroit Yes and you can clearly see about a floor per month going up.
