INK in East Village

Has anyone heard anything more about the INK project in East Village?

Sales launch date?
Unit sizes and pricing?
Development permit status?

I mentioned this in the main construction thread before, I had spoken with a member of the Lido sales staff about this at their presentation centre last month. I was told that the sales launch won't be for awhile, probably not till Lido sells out, and that the units will be mostly smaller units (1 bedroom units around 350 sq/ft & 2 bedroom units around 650 sq/ft).

I see that there is not much action on the site at all (assuming it's where the current "Orange Lofts" sales centre is sitting on 8th ave & 5th st. SE) but they are putting money into advertising, which is strange if they have no launch date in sight. Although they could be taking some retail from the area and turning it into a sales centre.

Lido only has 9 units left to sell, so the launch of Ink shouldn't be too long from now...

Naming a condo project in a fashion intended to appeal to a herd of tatted-up hipsters?

Why not just call it the Beard District and get it over with? East Village is so 2001.

I'm guessing they aren't in a huge hurry to get it going, with the market being soft right now.

One thing that is perplexing is that they're calling this Ink East village. The address they give out is on the other side of Elbow river so that would be in Inglewood. Are they trying to get some buzz from East village even though they aren't even in that community?

???

Pretty sure it's being built on the north side of the 600 block of 8th Ave SE.

Just because it's on a webpage, it doesn't mean it's true.

That address does not exist in Calgary. 535 8 AVE SE is however the orange lofts, an older Battistella project. Ink is going where the sales centre is, which was the orange sales centre in a past life.

I really hope Battistella steps up their game with the design of this thing before it's built. It looks like quite a downgrade from their previous work.

It's hard to say how it will turn out. IIRC the materials are light beige and charcoal, and the glass is slightly green tinted.

When looking at it in the DP...and looking at other angles it looked better.

Can you link to the DP? Wouldnt mind taking a look myself.

It may be better, but it just feels like a bit step back from their previous work. They are a developer that has always pushed the design boundaries here...this just looks like one of those crappy chinatown developments.

Ink is now 40% sold! That is amazingly quick for this economic environment. Yayyy

^Nice - would like to see similar projects like this in Mission, Kensington, Bridgeland. Batistella projects always have a bit of funk to them.

It's an adequate design although it's missing some of that funk from previous Batisella projects. Another one storey podium too.

Agreed, Battistella is great for a homegrown local developer
