In the northern hemisphere, it's best to orient outdoor space facing south to maximize solar exposure. This is likely why the terraces or on the south side of the building, which happens to face midtown. It's possible there are setback regulations / sky exposure plane reasons as well.

That's just because it's so thin. One57 is only 1,0005 ft. Use that as your guide...

As the illusion of 2,000 feet appears, there will be several more supertalls to join the Billionaires' party.

Right now, we are just getting started.
I mean, look at CitySpire down there!
I recall a time when THAT was considered tall.

it would be awesome if this building was more than 1 km high...
the tallest building in the world...

if the footprint would be bigger, with todays technology, with same design, it would be possible...

just imagine the tallest building in the world in this area, with this central park view...

and on the top the most expensive apartment in the world for the "King Of The World" for 1 billion dallars... no doubt it would be sold...

just imagine it...

the hell with the kingdom tower in the irrelevant jeddah....

One way to enjoy this tower while getting paid is to get a job as a cleaning maid here. Somebody has to do it. Probably the most luxurious cleaning maid job in the city next to 432 and the future CPS tower. I'd imagine the cleaning staff here would be well paid. 80k salary, full benefits, and the ability to make connections. A plush job indeed.

I forget what tower it was, but one of them offered a free room for the tower manager. I think it was 432.

I'm just saying that if they offered a free room here for somebody who was willing to clean it, you'd see me sign up. Hell, for that opportunity, I'll clean each room with a toothbrush. Would take me a while, but nothing a little Colombian Pony (from the Columbia drug lords relative who owns a unit) would't be able to fix.

Imagine picking up a girl, telling her you'd take her back to your place, and that place happens to be this tower?

Now that's being a boss right there.

Last month, JDS Development wowed us with an image showing a visual curtain wall mockup of their super-tower underway at 111 West 57th Street. Now the Michael Stern-led development team in partnership with Property Markets Group has released a new video and a handful of images to keep our mouths watering for what is poised to become New York’s most daring skyscraper in generations.

I think the viewing angle for Central Park from this location at 1 km altitude wouldn't be all that great.

This beautiful building in terra cotta and bronze is my favorite.

I wish I was as blown away by the pace of construction as I am with these renders. SHoP has designed something special here, I just want to see it built.

Yes, the variety is great, which is why a tower like 432 is quite alright on the skyline.

This tower just keeps trying to become my favorite, but I'm holding onto 53W53 very tightly! There are more SHoP supertalls coming soon, I hope they can blow me away as well.

This is a very complex construction site, which is basically the expansion of a landmark. It's understandable that the pace of work here is slow. But in the end, it will be a fast riser.

The top almost reminds me of a tall waterfall, only the water is gold.

The VMU looked just like the render pics. Of course I know the "lighting" in the crown render may be hyper realist, if the crown and how it is lit is say 95% fidelity to render, that will still be great.
