Fun fact, but the Development at Cadillac Square (formerly Monroe Block) tower, if built, would be about this height. Let's hope it still happens.

Is there any way Hudson will top out over the renaissance in height? Maybe if they added a sky deck? Amazing to see the construction regardless!

I think that ship sailed a long, long time ago. But it will still have a commanding presence from many perspectives (compared to the RenCen) because of its location.

Not gonna happen. It does look at least equally tall from just about anywhere in the city currently though.

The Tower's height was revised upward a couple of times (before getting reduced to the current height of 686 ft), and this Oct 2018 article reported that the elevator cores were designed to support up to 912 feet. Thus, in theory, Dan Gilbert could still decide to aim higher.

I hope he sets his sights on a nice tower at Cadillac Square. Hudson's height is great the way it is.

Very interesting, I have hope one day Detroits skyscrapers are really touching the clouds!

Do you ever get extreme fog in Detroit? In Boston, which isn't appreciably taller, we sometimes have low clouds roll in from over the harbor, which creates effects such as these:

Dense fog in Detroit is usually most common around late fall to early spring, when the ground layer is warm and humid and the air aloft is much colder.

Though, it's also somewhat common for the cloud layer to just form low enough to obscure at least the top of the Ren Cen. Usually during stormy weather.

A couple of screen grabs from Instagram and YouTube. I went looking for other angles and these are what I came up with. I have no idea who the guy is, but I was pretty surprised how well you could see the tower from Windsor. The second photo is taken from a drone video of the Gordie Howe bridge.
