I think this building looks awesome. I love the "American Water" sign, and its location on the waterfront is apt to say the least. The diagonal pieces of the building look as if they are "flowing" down the façade. The views from those upper level offices will be spectacular.

Better to have them there than in some office park in the middle of a huge parking lot somewhere in South Jersey

Subaru's new place makes this look great in comparison. I think the architecture is fine, for what it is.

Its got Robert A.M. Stern's name on it. On par with some of the bldgs at the Navy Yard. Money is money to these guys. Not every project has to be an architectural gem!

Agreed. I'm not at all echoing the "meh" sentiment. I think it's a fine building for it's purpose and location (and also was put in mind of the Navy Yard). I'm not expecting a "gem" or demanding one.

It's a great thing!!

But just for the record, the article states "The building will front the Delaware River, and will be located between the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and Campbell’s Field."

There is no "between the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and Campbell’s Field." I think she means in front of Campbell's field. Which kinda sucks that it would hide the Campbell's sign from view on the other side of the river.

Either way, I am still glad to see this super-prime piece of Camden county real estate developed from a parking lot, to a 600 employee building.

P.S. I'd love to see the parcel, which used to be a prison, developed on the north side of the bridge. That would be amazing! Driving over the be bridge would certainly be different then a year ago, considering the construction on this side of the bridge as well.

There were some proposals for that land about 18-24 months ago for a "world trade center" or something to that effect. I have not heard anything since.

I'm sure the ancient artifacts will be an excuse to delay this project.

I always took that as more of a concept proposal than a serious one. They never announced any tenants or made further press releases after putting out the initial plan.

This project on the other hand, has two large tenants committed to relocating roughly 1000 workers. I currently live in Cooper-Grant so it will be exciting to watch this go up.

Fortunately that was a different site, Holtec is building their join office-manufacturing facility down past the aquarium by the port.

Hopefully you are able to post pictures once the party starts. It would be great to see some pictures from your vantage point.

I'm going to have to fire up the ol' Flickr again I guess. I can actually see the site from my living room window.

The parking lot in question will be closing September 6th. I just got emails from the Law School and my building confirming this piece of news. The school email specifically stated that the closure was so this project could get underway.

How funny that the rendering shows a sail ship, with no open sails! Haha!
