Looks like there's three YOW-YYZ round trips on a Jetz 320 today.

It happens, not all flights will be full especially on a Wednesday. In the past, I was on an AC flight leaving YYZ with only 25%ish of seats being occupied. I think it was to BOS if I remember correctly (it was a connection because the direct didn’t work out with timing, and before my favour skewed heavily towards PD). No sweat.

I just noticed that PAL have discontinued their own branded services to YOW: https://www.palairlines.ca/en/fly-ri...ket-notices-2/. Until a couple of weeks ago they flew YOW-YQM-YDF-YYT 3-4x weekly. Guess the writing was on the wall with PD's ever growing presence at YOW and going double daily on YOW-YQM and adding YOW-YYT...even though these hadn't yet been added when PAL quietly gave 120 days notice of ending service.

F8’s YOW December transborder LFs. SFB is terrible, FLL is mediocre, while the new LAS route almost hit 80%.

Ottawa - Sanford: 54.5% (+8.1%)
Ottawa - Ft. Lauderdale: 67.2% (-0.2%)
Ottawa - Las Vegas: 79.6% (+6.1%)

I'll post full breakdown when I get a chance. Will be pretty boring, no data submitted this month for either Porter arm (dash-8 or E2) or Rouge. No Porter E2 data yet from November either.

Edit: here is the rest of the published data

US DOT data from December 2023

WestJet

RSW 1482/1962 = 75.5%
MCO 1091/1656 = 65.9%

Jazz

Since data is broken down by equipment, there was a one-off E75 turn and the YOW-EWR segment had 10 pax. No surprise AC is killing this route, it will be back on a CR9 the last month before it goes. Might see it dip below 50% in April.

DCA 2038/3128 = 65.2%
EWR 2003/3152 = 63.5%

United

EWR 9882/11486 = 86.0%
IAD 5313/6200 = 85.7%
ORD 8031/8968 = 89.6%

The WS numbers are lower than I would have expected, especially to MCO. DCA being low is probably the inverse of most routes in December where traffic probably drops during the Christmas rush as biz traffic dries up.

Good to see UA still consistently above 85% everywhere.

Today’s departure count: 77, including 12 sun flights

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 1

F8 to LAS is 13 hours late today.

So F8 ended up cancelling yesterday’s LAS and then this morning cancelled yesterday’s CUN. Big time ouch during March break.

Today’s departure count: 70, including 12 sun flights + an F8 replacement flight to CUN this evening.

Today’s cancellation count (so far): 2

Ouch. I would be very frustrated.

In terms of PD's future YOW-LAS/SFO/LAX (hopefully), wonder if the feed from the East would be enough for year round. If not, maybe some experts in here can comment on if these routes would be more Summer or Winter seasonal based on when peak demand is. I'd rather go in the Summer but some people consider these to be "sun" destinations.

LAS is dead in the summer. Deathly hot. SFO and LAX year-round. I wonder if daily year-round gets them some of the business travel which is plentiful? Could they sell Toronto City via Ottawa tickets?

Always appreciate these updates. Hopefully we'll get the actual DoT data at some point.

The rescue flight to CUN was supposed to depart at 18:30 is now scheduled to depart at 01:30. Looks like the inbound from PUJ that is actually arriving early at 00:35 will be the rescue plane.

Took AF327 yesterday. I was originally in PE but made a paid upgrade to J at check-in (3 seats were available at check-in). J was ultimately full, PE had 1 open seat (mine that I abandoned), and Y was rammed. I noticed lots of people with skis when doing my bag drop.

I took a bunch of pics…can post when I have more time if people are into that.

These little things were crazy tasty

Pardon the partly eaten plate. Obviously took the beef filet…was tasty if not overcooked. Anyway I’ve never had beef that wasn’t overcooked on any airline in biz. I get it because it’s still tasty and usually the most filling option…but I’m not so demanding on the cook - it’s a plane not a steakhouse)

I didn’t take a pic of breakfast. Had the scrambled egg option, yogurt, croissants, etc.

F8 to LAS is 12 hours late. Last Friday after showing a 13 hour delay it cancelled. No idea if that had a replacement flight. Let's see if the one today actually takes off.

Speaking of F8, they're gradually loading their winter 2024-25 schedule. So far the only thing for YOW is to CUN 2x weekly, which is down from the 3-4x weekly this winter. CUN resumes much later too on 17DEC24. The summer seasonal YOW-YHZ ends 24OCT24, so at this point there will be an almost 2 month gap with no F8 service.

Looks like F8 are going to pull out of SFB entirely after this winter and are ending YOW-SFB early on April 2nd. I guess the loads stayed crappy all winter to SFB. With the 7 remaining YOW departures, several days still have one-way $112 fares. They'll probably move to MCO would be my guess.

YOW-PUJ ends on 30MAR24. I can't remember though whether that's been the planned end date or if that one's been cut short too.

Of course this all assumes Flair are still in business come next winter.
