Looks like a galvanized coating; possibly all that steel will be exposed to the elements as part of an elaborate rooftop screen.

Sometimes you will also see red steel - this is steel that has been coated in a red primer and will be painted for an exposed look (in a skyscraper this usually requires intumescent coating for fireproofing which is very expensive).

Couldn't find this anywhere, but does anyone know how much total parking this project includes?

hm yeah, the only thing I see is in post 24 where it mentions

the development's planned parking will be reduced from 463 to 331 spaces.
... but that was as of end 2015, no idea if still valid

I just skimmed the most recent plans sumbitted to planning and it mentions a ratio of 0.5 for each unit—wherever that nets out.

Oh ok. I think 0.5 spaces per unit comes out to 351 (702 total units), so pretty close to 331.

I was just curious since there's a very similar mixed use project down south (also associated with a newspaper company), but it's got 1700+ parking spaces to 1,127 units, on a 5 story podium to boot. All the while being directly across the street from an under construction subway station with 2 lines, and a block away from an existing subway station also with 2 lines.

Pretty striking difference in parking philosophies.

A few shots of the progress on cladding installation that I'm not sure we've had recently:

434 Minna from the back, over the lot that'll become the park. This BMR structure might not actually look so bad, with its subtly gradient skin. Much higher quality than I figured.

A few closer shots of 415 Natoma from the same position but facing SE (Tempest is just out of frame on the right).

Given the building's scale, you'd think the alley would be constricted or feel claustrophobic, but it's surprisingly open and airy. The setbacks and undulations help a lot.

The lobby / cafe that (hopefully) fills this corner space will surely be great.

Really excited to see and feel how much this internal alley space and park change in the next year or two.

Purple? From my distant view the vertical design looks like a purple color which I like very much.

Nice catch!

I didn't actually see any of the vertical panels up for that wall when I was at the site.

I did, however, see the spec wall prior to any cladding being hung, and it looked WAY more blue/purple than expected or noticed in renderings.

02/12/2021 - one more floor clad since my last photo. This was taken in full sunlight today from my apartment in the Civic Center about 1 mile away. I think the color is fairly accurate - note the other colors in the photo.
