This has got to be one of the lowest floors to height ratios of any building (not including towers).

Technically, Vanderbilt would have it beat in that.

I've seen most renders that show it tapering as it rises, but a few that do not show so. Will it taper as it rises?

It tapers on the north and south sides.

The King of Wall Street!

Interestingly, when J.P. Morgan died, Frank Vanderlip, the President of National City Bank (i.e., Citi Bank), wrote: "The king is dead, but there are no cries of 'Long live the king' for the general verdict seems to be that there will be no other king; that Mr. Morgan can have no successor."

Respectfully, the esteemed Mr. Vanderlip was wrong. Jamie D is the King... the Sun King no less!

The mechanical levels are up, and there will be about 3 more levels before the first "diamond" is complete, and the first setback begins.

It will be a space for employees, as seen in these renderings...

This is a new Gilded Age for NYC! I really hope that 175 and 350 Park rise now also.

175 is already approved and going through demolition right now, it's going to rise.
350 Park is in the works, and right now the developers are courting Citadel.
It has a good chance to rise.

The hotel is still open to my knowledge.

A mild recession won’t stop it, but who knows how bad the economy will get.

Well I guess preparing for demolition then. Regardless it's getting built.

Soon to be visible from the Helmsley Building webcam. Progress of 570 5th will become visible when that tower begins to rise.

Per Wiki:

Quote:
The Helmsley Building was owned by Helmsley-Spear until August 1998, when it was sold to the Max Capital Management Corporation for $225 million. The terms of the sale stipulated that the building would not be renamed again.
Leona and her dog have been dead and gone for a while now. It's a shame they couldn't revert back to calling that gem the New York Central Building.

I just saw this skyscraper being blurred on the diagram and all the others as well as the Proposed ones… I’m really starting to hate the blur feature, like how people are going to know what’s the buildings are going to look like in the future when they’re completed?

That structure on the north side is really looking like the base for a pair of hoists now. Makes sense that a building this size would need more than the single one on the east.

270 Park Avenue’s Steel Superstructure Approaches First Setback In Midtown East, Manhattan

BY: MICHAEL YOUNG 8:00 AM ON JUNE 14, 2022

Construction is rising toward the first setback on 270 Park Avenue, the 60-story supertall headquarters for JPMorgan Chase in Midtown East. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 1,388-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space and will set a record as the tallest New York building to be powered by hydroelectric energy. The steel is being fabricated by Banker Steel and assembled on site by NYC Constructors LLC over a giant full-block parcel bound by Park Avenue to the east, Madison Avenue to the west, East 47th Street to the south, and East 48th Street to the north.
