The footprint(s) to the XYZ Towers, i.e. “Phase II” of Rockefeller Center, can be seen, too.

Also, 9 West57th (Solow) and Grace Tower had yet to make their debuts on the Midtown cityscape.

Six months of foundation work.

Love the classic art deco massing. This one will be nice.

Maybe it's just me, but yah it does seem like the foundation work on this one has been abnormally long? The site is relatively small too.

Looking back through this thread, it appears they started digging this past February.

There were issues and stop work orders. Sometimes when there are slowdowns, the issue is with the DOB. But that 6 month timeframe is supposed to be for constructing the foundations, lower levels. Look how long it’s taking at 262 5th just to reach street level. Both are relatively small sites with 1,000 ft buildings going up.

It's not really a long time. January will be here in no time. Than given the relatively small footprint, this should rise somewhat quick. If we recall 111 W 57th, the damn work on the lower levels took forever but than it started sprouting up kind of quickly.

Yes; but also keep in mind—-not that you *don’t* or *wouldn’t*, mind you—that 111’s foundation was one of the most advanced engineering-wise in NY building history.

This one’s an absolute cinch by comparison, needless to say.

IMO they’re kinda long-balling it with EDC(ompletion) time…no?

Everyone works at a different pace. Project planning can make a huge difference along with say availability of materials. One Vanderbilt as a case study of a tower that rose very quick, and way ahead of schedule.

I don't know though how deep they have to dig or what the foundation will entail. Could be complex...

But I think it will sprout up once the foundation is complete.

Here's an ambient video with a view from the top of the building looking downtown.

This tower is perfect for this stretch of 5th. Can’t wait.

This and 262 Fifth have some extensive foundation work. Hopefully in the next 5-6 months it will reach street level.

Great shot! Hope you loved your NYC visit Urbannizer!

The city gets into the mind and turns one into an urban addict. Soon you'll be muttering incoherent permit data in the Penn Station bathroom stall at 7 am while the guy in the next stall is washing his coat in the toilet water. A very NYC thing to see. If you go to the city enough times!
