Settle down with your division, bud. It's not a competition.

And apparently this is the streetlight design they get.

It seems like that skywalk will be quite narrow.

Just like the other one from TNS to City Place. I will assume they are the bare minimum width per code.

Word on the street is this was supposed to have been lifted into position Friday, and will now happen Monday instead.

For those unaware or have forgotten, The original announcement had called for a 27/28 floor Sutton Place Hotel. Over time the floors were reduced to 22 (18)over a 4 floor podium. So, the podium can most probably support 30 floors in total if it would 28?.
Also, they will probably have some retail where they built out to the street towards Carlton. Either putting their Chop steak house there rather than inside the hotel or allowing for other eateries and bit of retail.
It makes sense to have the long term residences together for staffing alone. Also,
Multi purpose building is what to expect going forward in most cities. It was happening prior to covid as well.

Being proposed as a 28 floor building does not mean the foundation was constructed to that level. The building went through some obvious changes in design to get to the final design of an 18 storey and 13 storey building over a 4 storey podium. The foundation would have been built to support the final design.

Grabbed a slightly different angle, hoping to see the alignment better.

So would they have to remove what was left in place & restart with a new foundation and supports?
I know 2 buildings were proposed but the thought of 30 floor building makes me happy.
It would be 1 floor more than The Radisson & be taller in height.
My guess is it would then become the 7th or 8th tallest in Winnipeg.
Approximately 100 metres?

Foundation work here in Winnipeg is some of the most expensive parts of an overall project. I can't imagine a penny pinching company like Northland Properties scrapping an already complete foundation to make a new, taller building.

I like your thoughts, but don't think it is real world practical.

Progress on the skywalk to Wawanesa. Carlton Street is open again, although I was enjoying the quiet of the road closure.

I walk home from DT to West Broadway after work time to time and I've been enjoying the construction. I also find it very aesthetically pleasing on that block, quasi-futuristic looking. If only that hotel would be built.
