Looks like those views from the top will actually be available to anyone. Floors 79 and 80 will be a restaurant and lounge and floors 70 to 78 will be a hotel. How many hotel rooms exist in the world over 1000 feet up?

Excerpts from a Miami Herald article today:

http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/02/2...lanned-to.html

Quote:
The newest to jump in: Swire Properties, developers of Brickell Key and the gargantuan, multi-block Brickell City Centre complex now under construction west of Brickell Avenue. Their plan for a new mixed-use tower on Brickell Avenue, to be reviewed Thursday by the Miami City Commission, calls for a 1,049-foot cloud-buster that would be tied in to the new complex.

If Swire wins final approval — no sure thing because the site sits directly below air lanes to Miami International Airport — its One Brickell City Centre tower would dwarf the current champ, the Four Seasons on Brickell, by a skyscraper’s height.

But Swire has close competition: veteran Miami developer Tibor Hollo’s Florida East Coast Realty, which already has approval for a long-planned 1,010-foot tower on Biscayne Boulevard across from Bayfront Park, is asking the Federal Aviation Administration to allow them to up the building’s height. To 1,049 feet.

That’s the height Hollo wanted, but couldn’t get, when the One Bayfront Plaza project was first approved in 2007.

“Good luck to them,” the courtly Hollo said of Swire, with a chuckle. “But I don’t think the FAA will permit 1,049 feet on Brickell Avenue.”

Swire executives say they’re “pretty confident” they can get their tower approved by the FAA and Miami-Dade County’s aviation department, but stress they’re not deliberately going after the crown. They say it’s unlikely that any height record would stand for long in any case.

“We’re not trying to build the biggest or tallest of anything,” said Swire president Stephen Owens. “There’s no particular benefit to saying, ‘At one point, we had the tallest tower in Miami.’ If you look at Miami 20 years from now, there’s going to be lots of these tall buildings.”
Quote:
Like Hollo’s, Swire’s mega-tower wouldn’t be done until the end of the decade — tentatively 2019, Owens said. It would encompass four distinct uses: Retail at the base, offices, condos and a luxury hotel at the very top.

On two sides, the sleek glass tower would have giant square “notches” or cutouts, one 120 feet tall and another 350 feet. Not mere architectural flourishes, they serve to minimize wind loads on the building, reducing the need for structural reinforcement, Owens and Swire senior vice president Chris Gandolfo said. The tower would boast a first for Miami: all loading would take place two levels below ground

As if One Brickell CityCentre and One Bayfront Plaza aren't confusing enough, a 3rd massive proposal is in the works called...One Brickell.

I wish the Empire World Towers would become a reality. Old proposal but awsome. BTW, notice Miami, and how much it has grown based on the old image in this rendering. Amazing change.

No, no find. I was just saying I wish they had built this as intended. I used the image just for a reflection between what the skyline in the photo looked like at that period to what it is now. In other words, Miami grew so much, it looks completely different.

It never got built. Killed off by the recession as well as being tied by the courts.

Miami having twin towers would really bring back that classic type of skyline to the US after the loss of the original WTC. NYC might never host something like that again. Chicago might also be a more realistic contender if the Old Post Office redevelopment plan happens.

Rendering: Whole Complex when it is finished ----> Brickell CityCentre | 1102ft |520ft x 2 | 516ft (Including other towers in the complex)

Possible redesign of the super tall based on the rendering.

I think a mod should rename this thread to just Brickell City Centre.

This project is similar to the ones in China where there are many towers involved. Plus, the fact that they have many towers that sound the same makes it a tad bit confusing.

Something along the lines of:

Brickell CityCentre | 1102ft |520ft x 2 | 516ft

As it accounts for the supertall, and the smaller towers in the complex.

The renderings above only has the supertall in one of them (Daytime image), but the project itself consists of many smaller towers as well. Well, not really small as 500+ isn't small, but hopefully a mod will understand my point. Its more for just being organized.

Nope, Centre lol. Name of the project. Not sure why they decided to say "Centre" instead of Center. The whole project is a little confusing in general because all of the names are very similar. Its like in the Bellevue thread. Every other new tower coming out has the word "Bellevue" in it.

Also in post #32, you can see the rendering for other buildings in the development that have "Centre" in it.

A first look at Brickell City Center's upcoming hotel

Quote:
Swire Hotels said it plans to open the East Miami hotel at Brickell City Center in fall 2015.
The company released renderings this week that show what the 263-room hotel will look like as it towers over Swire Properties' $1.05 billion mixed-use project.
East Miami will be Swire Hotels' U.S. first property and the third hotel under the East brand, following locations that opened in Hong Kong in 2010 and Beijing in 2013.

Designed by Arquitectonica, East Miami will also feature 89 serviced apartments known as East Residences. The tower will also house two restaurants, a poolside bar and lounge, a rooftop bar, fitness center, and a banquet hall.
Phase one of Brickell City Center is currently under construction in the heart of Miami's Brickell district. It will include a luxury shopping center, two residential towers, a wellness center and Class A offices. The first phase is expected to be finished next year.

Swire Hotels To Open First Hotel In United States EAST, Miami

Quote:
Swire Hotels announces the 2015 opening of EAST, Miami at Brickell City Centre, Swire Properties Inc's $1.5 billion mixed-use development in Miami's Brickell downtown district. It will be the hotel group's first property in the United States and the third hotel under the EAST brand, after the successful openings of EAST, Hong Kong in Island EAST in 2010 and EAST, Beijing at INDIGO, Beijing in 2013.

"Interest on the part of premiere hospitality companies in flagging a Brickell City Centre hotel was robust due to their desire to secure a prime location in the tony Brickell market and due to the inclusion of luxury retail in our project," said Stephen Owens, president of Swire Properties Inc. "We were ultimately able to select from among ten upscale hotel brands in choosing Swire Hotels' EAST for our flag.

About Brickell City Centre

Brickell City Centre is a landmark $1.5 billion, 5.4 million square feet, mixed-use development in downtown Miami from Swire Properties Inc, one of South Florida's leading international developers of real estate known for its $1 billion master-planned development of Brickell Key.
