Good to see a Buffalo thread here. It is a nice hidden gem and I was quite amazed by the residential architecture and ornate downtown historic buildings. The folks were super friendly and I find it more interesting than the nearby Niagara Falls!

What an amazing stock of housing.

Indeed

About 15 years ago, Anthony Bourdain said this:

Quote:
"Buffalo is a different culture. I look at Buffalo and Buffalonians as a different culture now. Ten years ago, I would have looked at them as those poor guys who live upstate, and I'm lucky enough to live in Manhattan. That's the way I would have seen it 10 years ago. Now I see it as a very distinct personality, a very distinct culture with its own architecture, its own kinda feel. It's actually a weirdly wonderful place. Even in the winter. I think it took me traveling around the world to get to that point".
I can't think of a better summation than a weirdly wonderful place. It grows on you like moss on a rock.

In Canada, Winnipeg gives me a similar yet different feel.

I get an "all things bright and Buffalonian" vibe... Do all these pops of color help to brighten up those notorious winters? It seems like they would.

hhnc,

In the current era that can only be described as "Death by Greige" it's so nice to see a variety of colors and unexpected color combinations.
