I know I'm repeating myself, but thanks again for all the pictures! I know it's a lot of time and effort on your part, but it is appreciated.

They mean a lot to me since I can't get back to New Orleans anymore.

No worries and I appreciate the repeated thanks. Trying to take pics of what I can during evening walks.

Theres a new construction sign on the building at 332 St Joseph so looks like moving forward by end of year to full construction.

Crippled by tourism drop, Audubon to shutter Insectarium; eyes move of exhibits to Aquarium

https://www.nola.com/news/article_e9...7e9284d89.html

The brutal chill that the coronavirus put on New Orleans tourism has claimed one of the city's top attractions for children.

The Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, closed since March due to city-mandated shutdowns and a sharp drop in visitors, won't be reopening its current location at the U.S. Custom House on Canal Street, officials from the Audubon Nature Institute said.

Audubon Chief Executive Ron Forman said the closure was necessary as part of a broader cost-saving initiative aimed at keeping the non-profit financially sound.

The current plan is to eventually relocate many of the insectarium's exhibits, including the Japanese-style indoor butterfly garden, into a renovated space in the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas at the foot of Canal Street — a move Forman expects will save roughly $1 million a year in lease payments.

"We have made some difficult decisions, always with an eye on the future," Forman said in a prepared statement. "While we are saddened by the reality of temporary closure, the move of the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium will present cost savings and fresh new experiences."

Construction begins on Clearview Mall ‘live, work, play’ redevelopment

https://neworleanscitybusiness.com/b...redevelopment/

Construction has begun on the first phase of a $100 million mixed-use project at Clearview Mall to turn it into what developers describe as a “live, work, play” area.

The management team of Clearview City Center says Regions Bank is its first tenant at the site, with a branch under construction at the corner of Clearview Parkway and Veterans Boulevard.

The 3,500-square-foot facility is being built on the site that for decades housed the Sears auto center. Clearview City Center owners acquired the property in July 2018 and began demolition in July of this year.

The bank branch will not have a traditional teller line where customers wait to be called up to service, a news release said. A banker will greet them when they walk in, and there will be video ATMs for customers to use. They include the option to speak with bankers virtually during expanded hours, including weekends and holidays, the release said. See renderings of the bank branch here.

Thomas Richards, Clearview City Center managing partner, said additional tenants will be announced and begin construction in the coming months, including major anchor tenants and the multifamily component of the development.

The first phase of construction will be completed in two years, with the bank set to open in June 2021, the release said.

The redevelopment of the 50-year-old Clearview Mall was unveiled last December. Plans call for a hotel, a 14,000-square-foot green space for outdoor events and concerts, more than 260 apartments, open-air restaurants and around 100,000 square feet of commercial office space for lease.

The new amenities would co-exist with the center’s existing anchor tenants: Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and AMC Theaters, Zea Rotisserie and Walk-On’s Bistreaux and Bar.

The project is estimated to create 1,608 jobs and $123 million in economic impact during its construction phase.
