Apparently it's somewhere between San Francisco and Las Vegas.

]
Atari & GSD just released some renderings today for a proposed Atari-themed All-Ages hotel. Not sure where in Vegas its planned exactly but it looks really cool.][

Do Gen Zers even know what Atari is or even care? This seams like an attempt to reach the Comic-con crowd

Me, too. I went to Vegas for a many times. I visit to see my sister and my great aunt who lived in Vegas. I came to Las Vegas on September 1994. This is my first time and it was so extremely hot out there. For next decade later, we came back to Vegas in 2003. They've changed. They build more hotels on the strips. Don't worry! I can go back to Vegas for next year. if they get better.

This one deserves it's on post.

Las Vegas Gateway Arch

This marks where the City of Las Vegas begins when traveling north on Las Vegas Blvd. When viewing it from the north looking south it says "The City of Las Vegas Thanks You". I can see how anyone that isn't informed that "The Strip" is actually located in the unincorporated areas of Paradise & Winchester (not within the city limits of Las Vegas) might be confused- especially having already seen the "Welcome to the Fabulous Las Vegas" sign 4 miles earlier... And on top of that, 200 yds down the road from this new sign, the previous version of the “City of Las Vegas" sign is still up.

Its safe to say this came out better than the renderings & it looks even better it person. It’s incredibly nostalgic for how new it is. Even though nothing will be as iconic as the original "Welcome To The Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, this one should not be overlooked. I'm just glad they realized the "Showgirl" sign wasn't cutting it, and decided to give this city a proper gateway.

The lettering itself & dice aren't bad, but the cartoon showgirls behind it are kind of cheesy to me. Not sure if they plan on keeping this now that the new one is up. It is a bit of an overkill to see a one welcome sign after another (literally less than 200 yds down the same road from eachother). However, I could see a case being made that if someone is traveling west on St. Louis, and turning right onto Las Vegas Blvd or Main St, they'd miss the gateway arch entirely- thus giving those travelers a proper welcome. That and people could still use it as a place to take photos, I guess.

Your move, EVERYBODY.

I wonder if the convention center expansion to the strip will finally lull some of the north strip sites, and stalled projects like the Drew, out of the comatose state they have been in for a decade. It would make sense for hospitality companies to want to locate future large, flagship properties in the Las Vegas Valley beside this new epicenter of large events. Currently, other large cities like Oklahoma City, Atlanta and Salt Lake City have new large convention center hotels underway or recently completed .. TREND ALERT!

Resorts World could also be a catalyst for this, and we have yet to learn where the Atari Hotel will be located! Exciting times

I believe it will! Its well-known that conventions have become one of the biggest pulls in this city. If you have the super-massive Las Vegas Convention Center nearby as an attraction for these huge conventions, you'd think that developers will eventually catch on and center their projects around that area...instead of being forced to add a convention center of their own on the property (like the Mandalay Bay, Rio, Aria etc) and wasting tons of valuable space that could be spent on other amenities. What I don't know is if these resorts (with a convention center of their own) make enough from the leases of those halls alone to make a profit, or if the profit only comes after the hotel-room sales / gambling / and overall business the convention brings in. If the latter is the case, this theory would almost certainly hold up because owners would realize that as long as they are nearby, they will still capitalize off convention goers.

Speaking of the Las Vegas Convention Center

And speaking of The Drew Here's an angle rarely seen. From this angle, it's clear how much more money & work is needed to finish the project.

Yeah I doubt any Gen Zer has even seen an Atari but millennials (even as advanced as these new consoles have become) will always carry a certain amount of nostalgia and respect for the first generations of gaming. And you are correct about the comic-con crowd, but there’s also a huge E-Sports wave that’s emerging. That’s what I think their primary focus would be, along with providing a more family-oriented hotel as most other resorts focus on the over 21 crowd, even going as far as to ban anyone under the legal drinking age (Cromwell & Circa). I really like the idea if I’m being honest, and if it goes through I’d hope they’d incorporate a “Howie’s”- type component for gaming and a huge arcade (Dave & Busters-Vegas Style)?

Thanks for the updates 🤘. I don’t comment on them but I’m always checking for Vegas news and updates. Virgin hotel is looking good. Can’t wait to see what the pool looks like.

Breaking news: Chuck Norris just had a chance to do a private stay there. The company is currently taking the "Virgin" off the sign, it will be now knows as "Hotels"
