FORT LAUDERDALE | Riverwalk Residences | 493 FT | 43 FLOORS

Gables Residential Applies For 710-Foot-Tall Tower Crane At The Site Of Riverwalk Residences In Fort Lauderdale
https://floridayimby.com/2021/08/gab...auderdale.html

Quote:
An application requesting approvals for the assemblage of a 710-foot-tall tower crane has been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration on August 2, 2021 for 333 North New River Drive East, the development site for the 43-story Riverwalk Residences of Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale. Designed by Borges + Associates Architects and being developed by Atlanta-based Gables Residential, the mixed-use building is planned to rise 493-feet and yield approximately 670,000 square feet including 295 luxury residential units, 1,300 square feet of ground floor retail and as many as 340 parking spaces.

Gables Residential purchased the property for $33.16 million in June of 2021 from former owner Ocean Land Investments. State records show the two parties behind the sale/purchase of the 32,991-square-foot site are affiliate companies of the developers: Riverwalk Plaza Associates LLC (the seller) managed by Ocean Land and Lion Gables Realty (the buyer) managed by Gables Residential. The site is currently occupied by a smaller office building, and will be demolished to make way for the 43-story tower.

Gables Residential Breaks Ground on New Development in Fort Lauderdale, FL
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gable...150000357.html

Quote:
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Gables Residential, a national leader in the management and development of multifamily apartment communities, has broken ground on one of its newest developments in the downtown Las Olas area.

The development will be a 295-apartment home Class A community with 1,333 SF of ground floor retail and a 338-space podium parking garage. It will consist of a single 42-story high-rise tower on 0.80 acres located on the corner of SE 3rd Ave & North New River Drive East in downtown Fort Lauderdale, adjacent to the New River. The community will offer residents stunning views of both Fort Lauderdale's urban skyline and waterscapes, enhancing the overall resident living experience.
- Via Google Earth Dec 2021.

There really aren't any photos of this tower under construction, while there are tons of articles indicating it I can't really tell if any pilings are in the ground. Until an image circulates I can't tell if this is U/C. I looked all over twitter, insta, flicker, youtube, etc... Maybe I wasn't searching hard enough, the most I found was drone footage from 4 months ago and a night image of a drone shot on Insta that showed the site in the distance, it looked like it had a few machineries.

Nice but they couldn't add another floor to make it a official 500 footer?

Just 7 feet shy of hitting 500’. A nice building but I was hoping that Ft Lauderdale was going to build if not the tallest skyline, a Top 10 skyline, but it may soon come in the future.

The Dalmar Hotel is suing The City of Fort Lauderdale due to the adjacent future development for that reason:
https://www.sun-sentinel.com/2024/01...ect-next-door/
Dalmar hotel owner sues Fort Lauderdale to block high-rise project next door

"Jake Wurzak, owner of the Dalmar hotel, filed a lawsuit against Fort Lauderdale late Thursday to block a high-rise project he says will cast a looming shadow over his 25-story hotel.

The new project would sit 10 feet to the south of the Dalmar, blocking its views of downtown and casting shadows over its sixth-floor pool deck, the lawsuit says.

I heard about that... so dumb. If I can remember one of his previous arguments was that Naftali was an obstructive NYC developer.

His company (The Wurzak Hotel Group) is apparently from Philadelphia, loll
