Jersey City is going to look so beastly in a couple of years. Who else thinks it's only a matter of time before a supertall?

Yup it's only a matter of time, Jersey City was close to one when 99 Hudson Street was built.

We just better hope that One Journal Square can get started before Trump gets us into a miserable economic downturn or some other political catastrophe develops.
2017...

Trying to find an old one journal square render and saw this post. Simpler times.

The version with the 10-storey WeWork building base was my favorite, but it looks like the renderings have been lost to the internet. janiswkchan.com

This was the best looking version in my opinion:

____

There's absolutely nothing remarkable about the latest and presumably final Woods Bagot design. About as forgettable as they come.

Was also not feeling the latest design by Woods Bagot, and as a big fan of the firm, that does great work around the world, thought it was rather un-Woods Bagot. So I checked their site. Here are the renderings they have currently on their site for this project. Hoping this is the final design as it is pretty amazing, which is more typical of their work.

Yeah, that looks pretty nice. Actually looks better than all the previous renderings.

Hope that's the final design.

^Not so much sucks than is underwhelming. I think this is far better, the most recent one just looked too clunky for me and despite at this point almost ANYTHING would look better than the undeveloped, weed growing eyesore the site had become in recent years. But this choice I definitely feel a lot better with.

Yeah this one looks orders of magnitude better than the previous in my opinion.

If I could find a fault though with all of the iterations it would be the "over-landscaping" of the plaza in front. I think a much better approach would be to create more of a gathering spot for JC and Journal Square. Yes, a "square" for Journal Sq. Too many damn trees.

Yeah, does look too tree-heavy, but hopefully this too is reworked into a happier medium between park and plaza. I'll be happy to see the buildings themselves actually realized, but the fronting of the development will be an important part of the streetscape and hopefully they get it right.
