This is actually a pretty exciting project given the underground parking. While still very car-oriented I can deal with underground parking and I think it looks pretty impressive. It's in an area booming with mixed-use development, hopefully RTC/the city can work to make massive transit and walking improvements in this area to take advantage of this growth... The nearest grocery store is a Walmart only 1.5 miles away yet it takes over half an hour and crossing multiple dangerous roads on narrow sidewalks to get there. Properly connecting the area with pleasant biking and walking routes could make this a really awesome place to live.

Unlikely developer building $500M mixed-use project in Las Vegas

Joe Sorge, who founded a company that produced gene analysis and cell biology products, and who boasts an executive producer’s credit for “Workin’ Moms,” a comedy show on Netflix, is building Evora, a 42-acre project on Buffalo Drive between Post Road and Patrick Lane.

Construction is underway on the project, which calls for 1,343 apartments, 240,000 square feet of commercial space and, rare for Las Vegas, underground parking.

Big industrial project in works for North Las Vegas
Quote:
The project, Matter Logistics @ North 15, is slated to feature two buildings: one that spans more than 685,000 square feet, and another that measures about 250,000 square feet.

It's really interesting to see the local economy become more diverse as these big industrial projects keep coming in.

This is a much better affordable housing project than the ones I have seen proposed! This is infill.

270-unit affordable housing complex to be built next to Maya Cinemas
Quote:
Fisher said 80 percent of the units will be available to tenants earning at or below 60 percent of the area’s median family income, and the remaining 20 percent of the units will rent at market-rate prices.

North Las Vegas spokesman Patrick Walker said that the overall plan for the Maya site includes the recently completed Civica Career and Collegiate Academy charter school, that the next phase involves Cine Apartments, and that future phases include commercial development, including retail.

Ive always wondered about the off-strip hotels and casinos and how they compete.

But I guess they are probably marketing to an entirely different type of client that wants to avoid the strip. Always forget that Vegas is 2.5m by itself

Marriott exits unfinished former Fontainebleau project
Quote:
Marriott had been part of the hotel-casino project since early 2018. As recently as this summer, its website stated that the megaresort, which it called the JW Marriott Las Vegas Blvd., would open in October 2023.

Florida developer Jeffrey Soffer’s firm Fontainebleau Development, which acquired the property in February, said in a statement to the Review-Journal that as it “moves forward with the project in Las Vegas, we feel it is important to make clear that, upon opening, the hotel will be managed and operated by Fontainebleau Development.”

Upscale office complex taking shape in southwest Las Vegas
Quote:
Axiom, off Rainbow Boulevard just north of the 215 Beltway, is slated to feature two four-story office buildings with a three-level garage between them. The roughly $30 million first phase, consisting of one office building and the garage, is slated to be completed as soon as next month, according to Neil Sansone, a principal with the firm.

Here are some renderings as well

Love to see for sale affordable housing being planned!

Clark County approves affordable housing development in the southwest valley
Quote:
It's the first for-sale housing development in Clark County, as previous developments were for rent only. The lot is located in the southwest valley on Cactus Avenue between Rainbow Boulevard and Buffalo Drive.

"We wanted to make sure it was in an established community with good schools, good transit, we've got the new bus stop here down the road. It's something where people can feel safe," said Commissioner Justin Jones.

MSG Sphere in Las Vegas enters new phase of construction

Quote:
"Completing MSG Sphere’s domed roof is a significant milestone because it allows us to begin the next phase of construction – building the steel framework to support the advanced audio and visual immersive technologies that will make MSG Sphere a first-of-its-kind entertainment destination," Nick Tomasino, vice president for construction at MSG Entertainment, said in a statement.

Nuro officially broke ground on their autonomous EV manufacturing plant in North Las Vegas.

Self-driving delivery company building manufacturing plant in NLV
Quote:
Nuro is also set to build a 13,000-square foot structure at the speedway, where it will test out its driverless vehicles on 74 acres of land. The testing will allow Nuro to validate all of the autonomous vehicles it produces after they are fitted with sensors and lidar at the manufacturing facility.

Between the manufacturing plant and the test track, Nuro is set to add 250 jobs in Southern Nevada with an average starting wage of $27.50 an hour.

I appreciated this article having a positive outlook despite this not being mass transit. I'm glad the wider system won't be funded using any public money and I think it'll be cool as a tourist attraction (and hopefully use larger vehicles at some point). I just hope it won't annihilate any chance of light rail to serve locals. Ugh.

Elon Musk's Tesla transport system gets OK in Las Vegas: Travel Weekly
Quote:
Fifty-one stations are now anticipated for the Vegas Loop from downtown Las Vegas in the north to McCarran Airport in the south. It will include T-Mobile Arena, Allegiant Stadium and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (Thomas & Mack Center). As many as 700 Tesla vehicles ultimately could operate under some of the most expensive, densely developed real estate in the country.

Edit- And this is looking like the only reasonable way to get to Allegiant... should be interesting

Only thing new to me in this article is that they are selling a portion of the Durango station plot. I might have missed that previously though. However, I'm curious about this image, is that Summit Club or the Ridges?

Fontainebleau to open by end of 2023, developer says
Quote:
The 67-story resort will now be called Fontainebleau Las Vegas and will open in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to Florida developer Jeffrey Soffer’s firm Fontainebleau Development.

The project, which first broke ground in 2007 but has stood unfinished for more than a decade, currently sits at 75 percent complete, the firm said. It is expected to create approximately 3,200 construction jobs and another 6,000 permanent jobs at the resort once complete, Soffer said during a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday.

Getting some mid-rise in Hendo. It’s about time we saw some type of “density” in that city. Should be sick views.

It's kinda absurd the scale of these pedestrian bridges... They could literally just close the strip to car traffic and probably improve the overall experience and land value

WOW! So exciting to hear that light rail is still on the table from RTC.

Infrastructure bill could open door to long-needed light rail development in Las Vegas
Quote:
Light rail is a proven generator of economic development. Look at Phoenix, whose 28-mile system has attracted $14.4 billion in investment, with another $3 billion in commercial and residential building projects on the books.

No wonder so many cities in our region have gotten on board with light rail, such as Denver, San Diego and Salt Lake City. Las Vegas falls further and further behind with every year that passes without our own system — and let’s not forget that we compete against these cities for convention and visitor traffic.

Local residents understand all of this. In public comments for the Maryland Parkway upgrades, they overwhelmingly voiced support for the light rail option.
