12/033/2020 - Surprised to see a decorative pattern on the east side of the building today. If the adjacent property is ever developed with a high rise the pattern on 1554 Market will be obscured.

12/12/2020 - a view from the Fox Plaza of 1554 Market's geometric pattern on the east walls.

The 1629 Market development can be seen on the left. The red brick building with the Hotel sign will be part of the development with the whole block torn down & rebuilt. The pile driver can be seen where the foundation work is being done now.

While evidently not tall enough (120 ft) to qualify for its own thread in the high rise sections, 1629 Market seems important enough, being a full block on SF's "main street", to have its own thread in the General Development section. Anyone disagree?

So I went ahead and made a thread for the "1629 Market" project which actually encompasses 1601-1637 Market: https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...39#post9133439

Hopefully Jerry will keep us up to date on progress. I gather site prep is underway?

Isn’t it the same developer as Fulton 555? If so, we shouldn’t be surprised.

thank you, I thought I remembered maybe there was a connection there, but wasn't sure. this from 2019 confirms:

Quote:
Z&L has purchased a dozen condo development sites slated for about 3,400 homes in the Bay Area and Los Angeles during the last several years, but has taken longer than expected to complete projects, Buckner said. The firm's first project, the 139-unit Fulton 555 in Hayes Valley, will welcome residents this fall after five years of construction and multiple delays.

With the new infusion of cash, Z&L expects to complete the 1554 project in 2021. Fisher Construction Group is the general contractor.

Isn't it open? I thought I saw a marketing sign for units on the side of the building facing Franklin a couple of weeks ago.

the definition of 'open' I was using was 'no fencing around it, ready for use'

I think the fact that they are marketing the place means that kind of opening is pretty certain and imminent.
