It is an absurd notion, you know my ethnic background and for me, beside food options, diversity is fine, but I find statements like 'diversity is our strength' as being shallow. I prefer decent people of whatever stripe to diversity for diversities sake.

I agree. I think it’s a great thing because it means our country is growing and it’s still attractive to those that have always made it strong, people from different backgrounds from around the world. We aren’t going to grow without continuing to diversify and new immigrants/diverse populations don’t just bring their tasty food, they also bring fresh perspectives, hopes and ideals for what the US can be and the initiative to make a better life for themselves.

You’re welcome to focus on the neutral or negative aspects, but there is beautiful and positive aspects to diversity and naysaying isn’t going to change that. Growing diversity in the US, as it always has, signifies growth.

That was also almost 30 years ago. Los Angeles was a bit blacker back then (14%, as opposed to 8% today.

LA hasn't had more black people than Latinos since 1970 though.
