We tried Pino's a few years ago on the advice of a friend. Wasn't impressed. They were doing full service at night at that point.

I called them earlier this year -- shortly before the mask mandate -- and asked about masks. Their employees weren't masked nor were they requiring customers to wear them. I lost interest.

I had lunch there last week. There was not a stern sign on the door saying "mask required," but all staff, even those I could see back in the kitchen, were wearing masks, and so were customers while ordering their food at the counter. I'm not much of a mask monitor, but I saw more compliance at Pino's than at some other places I've visited lately. The restaurant has a somewhat dreary and dated atmosphere, but the pasta special I ordered was pretty good.

Thanks for posting this. I meant to post something about this a few days ago.

Edit: we just stopped by to visit for a friends and family pre-soft opening. Jeff has done a great job with the place.

I know this was discussed, but I didn't know it was a done deal and opening this quickly.

This Arizona mixology legend is opening a 'garden to glass' cocktail bar on Roosevelt

Cool concept. Other end of Roosevelt however, at 822 N 6th Ave.

I went to an open house at the new space a few weeks ago. It sounds like they're still on schedule, but whenever there's a build-out involved, there can be delays.

Don’t worry. I can start a Metro Phoenix Cat Thread so the haters don’t have to miss any of the feline fun.

Cat cafe's are a big thing in Japan. I think this is quite fascinating to see in downtown! Plus cats are cute. So I'd happily go check this place out.

Nah, let's rename Phoenix Development News to The Obadno Cat Thread. Not like anything else is going on.

You guys can sip your Litterbox Lattes and Furball Frappuccinos. Sounds terribly unsanitary to me.

Guys I am keeping a list of opinions about cat cafes, I think six months from now it's going to be really important.

With five cats in my house, I'm too far gone to be saved. Seriously, though, the cafe will be set up so that cats can't come into the area where food is prepared and sold. Customers can take their food into the cat area if they wish, but not vice-versa. I don't think that will change the minds of those who don't like cats, but La Gattara will be complying with health regulations.

I don't think it will be any worse than all the "dog friendly" patios at restaurants all over town. At the old site in Tempe, they never truly lived up to the "cafe" in their name because they weren't set up for any food and beverage service. It helped that Four Peaks and Infusion Coffee were around the corner on 8th Street.

I don't get out much due to the pandemic, but I think I would be avoiding the dog friendly places while reserving judgment on the cat café.

An article about Bicycle Nomad Cafe's closing and the information is misrepresented so it struck me as funny enough to post here. Erick hasn't had an ownership stake in the coffee shop in over a year, he owns the brand Bicycle Nomad but was an employee of the bike shop. It's always funny to see how many articles get twisted around by the time they hit print.
