Liverpool, nice and ugly at the same time... Never seen that many abandoned houses anywhere else before...

Interesting photo set. Liverpool looks like Pittsburgh's older English aunt! Lots of potential there, hopefully they do not tear down too much of the unique older housing stock.

Thanks for the photos, don't know if I've ever seen Liverpool before. Why are all the houses abandoned? Is Liverpool the UK version of Detroit?

Partly down to de industrialisation and suburban sprawl, most large northern English cities have some areas resembling this. In newcastle we have large areas of abandoned property yet they still keep eating away at the green belt.

in a word - yes!

I'm my (limited) experience of the city the centre is full of magnificient buildings and is being re-generated with lots of exciting new developments, but the inner city remains gritty as hell - high unemployment, lots of crime and deprivation...

It boggles the mind to see those neat old buildings abandoned like that. Would you mind shipping a few streets of them to Tulsa? Those last few ones especially. I cant imagine people not wanting to fix them up and live in them. Trading such classic beauty and character for the suburbs? Egads.

Incredible, Looks like an amazing city

the abandoned row homes reminds me of Baltimore. Very attractive abandoned rows! But i had no idea England had abandonment issues, i never thought about it. Very sad! Its really too bad they want to demolish them because like i said, they are really attractive. Again, amazing photos and beautiful city

Sad to see such great buildings going to waste. Thankfully St. Louis finally woke up to the fact that these types of buildings are gems and must be saved. Not all, but many are being rehabbed. Hopefully, Liverpool's great old buildings will be saved.

Great photos! The level of abandonment is startling, and a bit depressing. Particularly the demolitions (repeat of urban renewal?).

These houses are very similar to ones a few blocks away from me:
