This is now an all but certain, and rare, in geeky Skyscraper-Poker parlance, occurrence of a "900-High-Straight" of new/under construction at once coming on-line in the city (not many other cities in the world can probably ever lay claim to ever having been dealt this good of a "hand"- although I better be careful here as the "four-of-a-kind" presidential towers beats a straight!!):

900+ OCS
800+ Salesforce and 110N.Wacker
700+ BMO
600+ WPE and 25 W. Randolph
500+ OCS #2
Right, good times

If we're *really* lucky we'll have

1,400+ Tribune Tower
1,100+ 400 Lakeshore
950+ Parcel I and NEMA II (+ something on the 78 site?)

Don't get hopes up but dreaming is nice

OCS will be awesome though

One can not let themselves forget of a possible Thompson Center sale that will truly bring the Loop back into the construction craze. Baby steps though... OCS now, Megatalls soon?

So it links like they've altered the southern facade of the podium. Perhaps they're thinking one day the diner won't be there...?

Ha, maybe they'll pull a Richard M. and carve X's in the griddle one night.

Other than the giant, blank southern wall of the podium, looks nice.

The article says 50,000 sf of office space as well. That’s no small potatoes—could definitely see a few companies HQ’s in here

How long do we estimate it will take before this tower begins rising above ground? How long for all of the base/ground work before we can see it above the fencing?

The vacant lots extending from Washington to Randolph along the west side of Franklin always irritate me every day as I walk past them. Perhaps not the worst but since I see them every workday and they’re right downtown it’s what I long to see go away as soon as possible.

The part right before the corner is solid. I think it's either going to be precast or gfrc. The top floor and the revel is corrugated aluminum. The whole zone between the reveal and the tower is glass, but there is parking backing up this so I believe it will be spandrel glass. Still way better than most parking podium walls.

Anyone know if that's terracotta detailing at the base of the tower?
Right now the 3 contenders for 'worst parking lot in Chicago' are..........

(drumroll)

In no particular order:

1. The former Chicago Mercantile Exchange lot -- those bastards!
2. The Rock n Roll McDonald's parking lot -- how I hate thee!
3. The North Bridge mall/Macerich parking lot -- build something, damn it!
