The North End of AC above the Revel now Ocean Waterver casino was ripe for this...too bad they didn't try to do it there first...so much vacant space on a prime spot with the best views of the ocean and bays.....

Great location but if you don't enjoy flooding it will be best to look elsewhere. And "River Place" is fitting, as it may end up in your living room.

popped inside the new "Chancery Market" in downtown Wilmington yesterday, I think it was a press event & the actual grand opening is today. Beautiful place inside and out, the patio will be a welcomed addition to this end of town. Took a few photos, was raining so I didn't get much of the outdoor space but it's the highlight for sure, it's pretty large & they're still putting the final touches on it including landscaping and a fireplace. The bar itself opens to the patio, that'll be nice come springtime. It looks like all but one of the 8 vendor spots is open for business, not sure what's going in the final spot:

This is pretty cool.

Thanks for taking the time to assemble these. I always find the news tidbits from the around the region very interesting. The suburban transit and TOD news is encouraging; I hope really hope those efforts bear fruit.

Another positive tidbit from the tourism sector: domestic travel is now above pre-pandemic levels in the Philly area, which puts it among the top recoveries.

International travel is obviously still a fraction of what it was everywhere (not a shock), but still a great sign for the city's continued draw to visitors:

Quote:
International Tourism Down 66% from Pre-Pandemic Level and Retailers Feel It

Retailers in prime urban retail corridors like NYC’s Times Square, Boston’s Seaport District and Chicago’s Michigan Avenue are getting a big boost from the recovery of domestic tourism to pre-pandemic levels—a surge that is being dampened by lagging international travel.

According to new report from JLL on prime urban retail corridors—entitled City Retail 2023 and released at the start of ICSC in NYC—domestic tourism now is exceeding pre-pandemic levels in six major US markets. In a comparison of September 2022 and September 2019 statistics, Miami (129%); Boston (120%); Los Angeles (117%), NYC (112%); Philadelphia (108%); and Chicago (101%) all have exceeded the 2019 level for domestic tourism.

Thanks! I'm a big supporter of local journalism which is why I usually don't include text from the articles. For better or worse, clicks drive ad revenue which makes local journalism possible, so please visit the sites if you can! And maybe learn something along the way

Awesome! It's great to see another high-rise proposal!

It would be even cooler to see a proposal downtown that would become the tallest building in the city since 1201 North Market Street has held that title since the 80s.

Lockheed Martin plans expansion to King of Prussia campus

By Ryan Mulligan – Reporter, Philadelphia Business Journal
Dec 15, 2022 Updated Dec 15, 2022, 4:19pm EST

Defense contracting giant Lockheed Martin Corp. plans to expand its operations in King of Prussia with a new 55,000-square-foot research facility.

The proposed new project was scheduled to go in front of the Upper Merion Township planning commission on Wednesday but was tabled at the request of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT). The proposal will be revisited on Jan. 11.

The new building is being planned alongside Lockheed Martin's existing 784,000-square-foot main facility, which is part of the company's Space unit that builds satellites and spacecraft.

The expansion stretches 91 feet in height and two stories, according to documents filed with Upper Merion Township. The entire King of Prussia complex spans 90 acres and the new development would be built on 1.63 acres, the documents show. The research and manufacturing building would sit on the northwest side of Lockheed Martin's campus at 230 Mall Blvd. just off Interstate 76 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Can someone explain to me the draw with King of Prussia? I've lived in philly and go there often still, but I've never fully understood all the money/infrastructure going toward that area.

Proximity play. If you want walkable it’s most definitely not for you. But if you don’t mind driving most of the time (which is still a lot of people) it’s pretty attractive. It’s accessible to the whole region in about a 45 min drive which is about the max tolerable daily commute for most people. So there’s a ton of jobs that people could have that would mark KOP a viable place to live. It’s not all that bad, there’s plenty of amenities and high incomes.

Can we not go down the KoP rabbit hole again...

I feel like if someone asks "what is the draw to KoP", then it doesn't matter what anyone says...

It's a nice place and has everything you need and is starting to reinvent itself. Some like to hate on it because it's suburban but if you take the time to explore some of the neighborhoods they are quite nice and have interesting topography, more walkable than you may think, some offer stunning views, no local income taxes...KOP has more to offer than just a shopping district on 202.

Where are the walkable areas? I mostly see highways, stroads, parking lots and houses with no sidewalks. Sure some is "walkable" but you are not walking to a coffee shop
