Brossard to Central is slated to begin operations in December, but there was an accident at Île des Sœurs station that caused some damage and will likely delay opening even further. Nothing official announced yet, but the CDPQ has a horrible track record when it comes to transparency, so I'd expect an official statement next month or maybe even in November.

Central to Montpellier is slated for late 2023, with remainder opening 2024, with the exception of the airport spur which is now officially slated for 2025, but may end up being even later than that.

Thanks for the reply. The REM is hands down one of the coolest projects in the country right now.

At this point, I agree. Crosstown should partially open, alongside current bus services.

It's definitely one of the biggest! Quite the scale (and budget). Ottawa just needs to extend a few km east and Montreal a few km west and we could meet in the middle!

Rail to Rockland, Plantagenet, Alfred, Hawkesbury, Saint-Lazare probably more likely than Lowetown, Vanier or the Glebe.

Not really U/C anymore, but rather 'reconstruction' until January 2023 (at least) due to concrete cracking on their pylons...

That said, 102 Avenue is ready to roll!

Valley Line SE - originally opening Dec 20', then '2021', then '2022' and then 'Sept 2022'... and about a week before opening cracks were found on multiple piers.

We are now seeing remediation work that will occur 'until Jan 23'.

A small portion on the Southside to get it over a major arterial (with elevated station) and the lead up to the bridge over the river on the south bank.

Hurontario LRT is slowly making progress:

Brunel & Sandstone

via Lake Ontario

Aldrigde & Traders

via Lake Ontario

Northwards towards Mississauga Centre

via Bangkok

Southwards towards Port Credit

via Bangkok

Hurontario & QEW

via Bangkok

All photos from UT: https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/thread....3299/page-385

There will be a major shutdown of the QEW and Hurontario for 55 hours between the 28th and 31st for a push box movement. This will be a new additional underpass under the QEW to support the LRT ROW underneath.

A rare glimpse into the Hurontario indeed. Thanks for the update. I occasionally forget this is going on.

Don't think i've seen this before, but bus alignments for Line 5 when it eventually opens (in 2023 or beyond...)

https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/thread...20264/page-895

For those not familiar, Ontario Line will connect at Science Centre station and head southbound towards downtown, replacing much of what is currently route 81 on that map, intersecting with Line 2 at Pape Station.

Just rode the O-Train confederation line for the first time. Nice system overall but the underground stations smelled like $#!%. Are they still not gonna fix that?

Nope! This has been a problem since Day 1 and nobody knows the cause or the solution.

Just a little REM update: the Brossard to Central station portion got delayed to Spring 2023 now, rather than opening sometime in December 2022.

Not a major shock as the opening dates have been delayed multiple times now but this time CDPQinfra referenced Ottawa's O-Train struggles during the winter.

Let's hope they get some parts up and running in Spring 2023 for real.

2023 will be a big year from transit opening across the country

Toronto: Eglinton Crosstown
Toronto: Finch West LRT
Montreal: REM South Shore
Edmonton: Valley Line Southeast

2023 is also the year the Mount Royal tunnel portion of the REM will open (but we'll see, given all the delays). That's what I'm most excited about with the REM – having a crosstown express line that allows you to get from downtown to the other side of the mountain in just a few minutes. Or even better – you will be able to get from Brossard to Ville Saint-Laurent in about 20 minutes, which will always be way faster than driving.

Do you think the Finch West line will open up on time?

On the same page as you! A North-South alternative to the Orange Line, which also serves downtown/Old Montreal, is much needed...

If the delayed opening of the South shore portion lines up with the Central branch, that'd be pretty cool & worth the wait.
