I suppose for the constitutional purist it could raise some interesting considerations. One could also argue that the voters' right to representation obliges the elected member to take the oath, lest he deny them their right. However, since nothing will come of it, istm that Blanchet has made a tactical boo boo - if there are no consequences to taking the "oath" (or affirmation) insincerely, what is the point of refusing to take it?
Anyway, politicians will spin it for whatever mileage they think the can get out if it.
