The stadium looks hideous, like a giant tumor growing on the face of downtown. They didn't even try to integrate it smoothly into the urban fabric.

And you think the Metrodome was any better?!? I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on this one. It fits in with the city just fine. It's screams modern architecture that we expect in Minneapolis. The architects really made this building fit into the city landscape IMO.

More about the design if you care...

The above picture is showing the stadium's ugliest side, it's butt side. The Side facing the city and The Commons Park is a whole different ballgame ...pun.

Harvard Street and Washington Ave SE l 26 floors

Harvard St and Washington Ave SE

http://www.startribune.com/developer...ist/373302801/

A 26-story apartment tower being planned at the University of Minnesota would be the tallest on campus, but it’s not just for students.

A local developer thinks that living close to campus will appeal to many other people — from professors and others who work at the U to professionals who work in downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul.

“We’re trying to do something that will appeal to everyone,” said Tom Lund of Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors, who is leading development of the as-yet unnamed building. “There’s a vibrancy to being around the U.”

The 431-unit project would be built on a quarter-block site at Washington Avenue SE. and Harvard St. SE., near the East Bank light rail station. The site is now home to a pub, coffee shop and juice place.

Not a fan of the angles? I like them. The angled designs give off a brutal feel for me, maybe because the slabs are so large. It feels like what it looks like, which I like. Not sure if that makes sense. I'm sorry you don't like it, but it's ok. There are plenty of other things to like.

Lots of building happening in the city core, and in the suburbs. Exciting times in MSP

New proposal for the Nicollet Hotel block. Four Seasons in Minneapolis??

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincitie...lis-tower.html

"United Properties is pursuing Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to anchor the developer's 35-story hotel and apartment tower proposed for Third Street and Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.
United Properties President and Chief Investment Officer Bill Katter said his firm is "in discussions with the Four Seasons" and that the Toronto-based luxury hospitality brand consulted with the developer on the $260 million tower's design."

200 Central Ave NE l 40fl

Updated Height for the new 200 Central Ave "Alatus" Condo Tower. Up to 490''. Which would make it the tallest residential tower in Minneapolis.

New rendering on the left and old on the right.

RIP Prince Rogers Nelson. Thanks for putting Minneapolis on the map and making this city a true music city! A true talent gone way too soon...
