Malt City is opening Monday Sept. 7 and it looks great.

Famoso has been a roaring success so far. Packed day and night. The food is good and the atmosphere is lively, but the service is painfully slow for a place that is supposed to be able to bake a pizza in 90 seconds. That should be fixable as they seem to have tons of (inexperienced?) staff.

Too bad they couldn't push it to open for Labour Day weekend. Be plenty of people around and start out of the gate with a bang (although that could be problematic too).

I can name you 10 places in Regina that currently make better burgers than Fuddruckers. I think the only reason why some think that place is a big deal is because it left Regina yet stayed in Regina. Highly overrated IMO.

We were there on Friday - food & atmosphere was great.

I see the 90sec figure on their website, but we sat right by the prep area... I didn't see any pizza stay in the oven for as little as 90seconds. Most were significantly more ("significantly" is relative - so probably 3mins on average). The queuing & prepping of the pizzas takes time - but they were working like mad fools to keep things moving...

We asked about takeout, and other than the small, premade pizzas (5" max), they said take-out takes just as long as dine-in - she suggested 30-40mins over the lunch hour.

Malt City's menu is up on its website. It has a strong local component. You might even call it a bit heavy. Has anyone tired it yet?

This is pretty cool and effective considering Victoria's is surrounded by skyscrapers.

I am counting Dewdney as downtown. I believe there is a Hudson's - Canada's Pub going in to the former Pure Ultra Lounge building. This is based on the giant Moose/Explorer themed mural being painted on the exterior, as well as on prior rumour.

As well this place is in the former New Yorx:

Back in June I posted that I understood that Hudson's would be in the New Yorx space and Bobby's Place Old World Tavern would be in the Pure space. Based on the mural and the Eldorado location, I would say that was wrong.

Hudson's has been actively looking elsewhere. If that's where they end up, it will be interesting...

Eldorado is downstairs and has been there for a couple of years. There are two floors of office space above at least some of which is for lease.

There's a Hudsons in Saskatoon and it's pretty much always busy. I'm the last person to love chains, but it'll certainly help Dewdney.

Well, I am pretty sure this mural is of the Explorer Henry Hudson. The garb and tall ship are of the correct period.

It does and it may be. But none of their other locations include gaudy murals.

It's sad that this will soon be marred by graffiti.

There are a ton of workers there every day. If someone is driving by they should ask the workers.

Then why not, with the same confidence, say what is IS?
