I use the Canon Rebel T3i and I love it - so the T4 should be great.

A t4 is an entry piece. Lots of bells and whistles but not much to show for it.

I still like my sony. Its cheaper and has the same guts as nikon equipment but costs less. Check out the sony a57.

The reason im partial to Canon is I got a 450$ store credit at an electronics store that carries primarily canon.

I've been shooting Canon for years (ever since I took photo classes my junior year of high school...so about 6 years), so I say Canon.

I'm almost positive photoLith is being sarcastic ( ), but you really can't go wrong with either a Canon or Nikon (or Sony or Leica etc.). It's not the camera that makes the picture, it's the person behind it.

It's only a bonus if you actually know how to use it.

If you had money to blow, I'd get a Leica M9.

on the entry level there really is no noticeable difference in picture quality so you will not go wrong with either one. Make sure you save/use your money to get an L lens if you go with Canon, or a fixed aperture Nikkor lens if you go with Nikon. The lenses will be the most important part of your camera that will determine the overall photo quality, not the body itself.

Go canon if thats what they have at the store. Its mostly about the lenses and not the motor anyway. Motors wear out but you can keep using lenses for years. Either brand makes good lenses.

Hate Canon with a passion. Go Nikon!

(Canon repair "lost" my "L" lens about ten years ago then hid that fact for nearly two months while refusing my calls to find out what was up with my lens).

Have a t4i and I love it. Had a t1i for over 4 years and it is still like new.

There are so many good cameras out there, it's really what you are used to.

Nikon all day, everyday.

Though, Canon makes great fax machines and photocopiers...

The way I chose the camera that I started with 4.5 years ago is I noticed the quality of the photos already being posted by other guys. There was one guy whose photos looked the most real to me as far as clarity and color, so I asked him what camera he used. I was really surprised that it was cheap little Nikon Coolpix that was very affordable for starters. Some of the photos taken with that camera are even in my Shutterstock portfolio, and those people are picky as all hell.

I then graduated to a Nikon D5000. I was planning to get a Nikon D7000 this year, but my life sort got turned upside down, so I'm still working with the D5000. Some of the stuff I shoot with it comes out not so great, and other times, it looks really great, but this is how I made my decision.

The Calgary Police Service uses Nikon for their red light and speed cameras.

There was a time when virtually every pro photographer used Nikon equipment, now I think Canon users outnumber Nikon, in fact I would say( in Montreal) 80% of the pros use Canon
