Yes, but it depends on what part of the city you're in. The area bounded by I-516 to the west, DeRenne to south, the river to the north and the city limits to the east is pretty dense. Areas south of DeRenne are fairly suburban. Areas on the far northwest side were annexed by the city in the late 90s/early 00s and is brand new construction. The city also annexed land in far southwest Chatham County in the 00s and the land was suppose to be developed as part of a planned development called New Hamsptead that called for 20,000 residential units to built over several decades, but the recession killed those plans. Since then new developers have come in and the plan now calls for 9,800 residential units, green space, office, commercial and industrial space.
